RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

Since the 80's ey....Maybe it's time for something fresh anyway. At least a switch-a-roo to the hokey pokey or something.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I see the show on a regular basis, and I know they do more than skip. I'm not disagreeing with you that they do skip, but to simply say "All they do is skip," when they clearly do something more than that, is not something I like to hear.
If they move their arms differently doesn't mean they're doing a different move with their feet.

Also shuffling around isn't much better than skipping.

This argument is a little like reliving my childhood ... o_O

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

So now that Nicole has pointed these imperfections out, does it affect your view on the show? I'm just wondering, because we all liked the show, now I guess we all hate it because one imperfection that no one noticed anyway got pointed out. I guess we'll have to settle for Entwined now. I'll just say this, watch what you say because Scott will turn it around and put it against you.

Next year when there is no TIO, and you're all complaining about it, Scott will just say, "Well they hated it last year, and I didn't even purposely ruin it." I know TIO isn't perfect. But Scott is going to remove it now, because of what you all just said. I will remind you when it's gone.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

Matthew. I never said Entwined was better. I never said anyone should hate it. I did, however, point out that the current, watered-down version does not deserve the hyperbolic praise many people heap upon it.

I am allowed to provide an educated critique of the show. You all are equally entitled to enjoy it in its current form.

My guess is that real dancers are no longer hired for TIO, and that the choreography had to be stripped to accommodate the skills of the singers.

Perhaps the show is being changed as a way of killing it off? I don't pretend to know. All I can say with certainty is that they were not doing anything but skip in many directions and patterns. It is a mockery of the real show and I am surprised you are so enthusiastic about defending to be honest.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

I didn't say that, I was just saying, Scott will twist your words. He will use the one complaint you just pointed out to keep only Entwined. I wouldn't say this for any other show, because Scott can claim ownership of them, so he doesn't care if people like it or not. He hates this show, he wants it gone. And when it is gone he will use your complaints as excuses when the complaint letters come in.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

I am not going to let the threat of Scott misquoting me to justify his decisions silence me. That is no better than sites that only publish what the park wants them to say. I have a valid, researched, and well thought out opinion. I have just as much right to express it as everyone who clutters up the forum with glitter jokes.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

Again, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I know the show got watered down in 2010, Scott's first year of control. I know you have your right to say your opinions. I'm not stopping you, I can't stop you. I'm just warning you about the possible consequences. TIO has problems, I know that. I love TIO, I don't want to see it gone again. I was expressing my concerns, about your concerns. With that said, let's get back on topic, This is Oktoberfest 1976-2011 & 2013-2014?

I'm gonna be honest, I have not seen this year's show. In fact I haven't seen TiO since early in the seasons last year. However, I'm gonna tell you something of extreme importance: You can point out the flaws of something you love and still think it's awesome.

Here's a personal reference, have you ever seen the animated Anastasia movie? The history is as bad and butchered as Disney's Pocahontas. The animation is awful. (It was rotoscoped. Rotoscoping is when they film the live actors and then trace over the recorded film to make it animation. It's basically the original motion capture.) The lighting is all over the place. Perspective? pfft What's perspective? Not to mention since it was the late 90s, it had to have all that "inconspicuous" 3D. But you know what? I still love that movie. Even if it looks like Don Bluth took his previous character designs and shoved it into another movie, and only changed one or two things.

It's okay to really love something, but you have to admit when there's problems with it. And when it comes to dance, you and I clearly have no background in it. So when Nicole, as somebody who has done decades of dance, points out that it's wrong. It's wrong. It doesn't really ruin the show. Especially when you are not trained to see those flaws.

And honestly, nobody's really said that they hate the show. They've pointed out some flaws to it, but this isn't Entwined or London Rocks. The Festhaus 100% needs this show, and it needs it in top form.

/gets off soap box, and is probably really late to replying to this.

Am I missing something? From the look of the photo, it looks like they just used one sign to mean both shows were returning.

I'm sure that is the case, but I think people enjoy looking beyond that. Kind of like that South Park episode where people were making up hidden meanings in the 'banned' books.
