RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

I go to see TIO everytime I go to the park, and from what I've noticed it's getting almost twice the amount of people to every show compared to last year. That's not an actual number, just a synopsis of many observations, by yours truly. However, I've talked to the technician a lot inbetween shows, and from what I've gathered from her, TIO is constantly beating out Entwined on filling up the Festhaus.

Keep in mind though, it's virtually impossible to determine how many people are coming to see shows in the Festhaus. Really the only thing they can do is get an extremely rough estimate based on how "filled-up," the Festhaus looks.

Anyways, I saw TIO yesterday. And the Clarinet was out, I'm guessing the park has no instrumental understudies, because TIO and MIU are constantly missing musicians with no one to fill their spots. Also, why do they march into the Festhaus from that hall, only when their missing a musician? I don't see why they can't march in from the doors when they're missing a musician, does it have something to do with the heat, or have they stopped coming in through the doors for the rest of the season?(if so that would be sad)

I saw the wedding show yesterday also, and noticed they brought back the yodeling in the 'Happy Wonder' song.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

Don't they have turnstiles where the food is? They also have cash registers. I bet they have a better idea of what show is moving bodies through the door than we think.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

There's a lot of people who go into the Festhaus to just watch a show, and not eat, so that still would be an inaccurate measurement.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

And also those of us who go to eat and not watch the show. You don't know how many times I've scarfed down the remaining bites of my food just because I heard the high pierced yodels coming...

Show numbers may change as we go into the summer if only because the Festhaus is a large indoor eatery. It doesn't matter how terrible the food or show could be when the Festhaus has air conditioning on a hot humid Virginia summer day.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

I've never been a fan of this show... It's not really a show as much as it is something that just happens... I'm eating and then all of a sudden there is yodeling and performers saying generic German phrases. Don't get me wrong, the performers are talented and I'm sure the show is "good." I just have a very hard time paying attention when I come here to eat with my daughter. If this wasn't at a place to eat, I'd probably enjoy it more. But since it is, the show is just very superfluous.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

I think the whole point of the show is to be able to enjoy it, while not having a clear focus on the show. It's not meant to have a plot or story, it's just a small celebration of sorts.

Whether you enjoy the show or not, it's a good for the Festhaus to have a show that you can eat through and still see something, without struggling to catch up on what's happening. Versus Entwined, which is in an awful location, because now I can't focus on eating or the show, because I have to pick one or the other. And personally I go in there to eat rather than watch the show.

Is the Bob Bauman introduction for this show now gone?
Are there still two versions of the show?

Thanks. Just wondering if there were changes other than the sign being removed.

Someone needs to tell the Oompa band to slow down. They are going way to fast on the songs. In result, the dancers are getting very frustrated. They barely have any time to complete some of the dance moves, to the point where they are making mistakes.(the hand-work especially). During the chicken dance, by the second spiel they are already going as fast as they used to go during the last spiel, the kids can't keep up. Speaking of Oompa band, the AVB trumpeter is now in TIO.

They didn't even do the chicken dance last Monday during one of the performances. The kid was disappointed.

So with the discussion going on in the LR thread, is TIO supposed to play through Labor Day weekend? And if not, what day will its last performance be on?

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

All shows will end by August 31 except the two animal-based shows. Right now, the advertised last date for TIO is August 31 exact.

RE: This is Oktoberfest (1976 to 2011, 2013 to Present)

After re-reading this and other show threads, as I do when I get bored, it occurred to me TIO is in another insecure situation again. Last year, about this time everyone was worried about TIO re-appearing for the 2014 season, without Scott banishing it again. Looking back at the responses to those questions, TIO was most likely confirmed to be coming back for 2014.

However, reading some of those comments right now were a little troubling. A lot of them had the content of "Scott is being forced to bring it back next year, but when he can remove it, he will." So, is this year TIO's final goodbye? If so, I think I would sob my eyes out. With the project 2015 catastrophe, and this leaving, I would have zero ambition to leave the house and go to the park. Please tell me this isn't true.

At least I still have the olf TiO album to listen to if it is bad. They really need to bring back the old stage.
I really want to listen to this and I haven't been able to find it easily online.
