My only qualm with Joe's statement is that Valravn was actually filed by Cedar Point itself and not Cedar Fair management. I think Valravn will definitely be CPs dive machine. If it were for a park like KD, it would be filed under Cedar Fair management (like Fury 325, Banshee, etc.) not under Cedar Point.

Edit: Can you imagine how good a launched wing rider called Valravn with Banshee's color scheme would look flying through the forest like grizzly does? Holy crap it sounds beautiful. One can dream.

If kd is getting a large coaster like this would they need to start building in June or July? If they did get this, an announcement would be coming soon I guess.

not to be agumenative, but on what data do we base the idea that "Kings Dominion's next coaster will more than likely be built on the Old Virginia side of the park..."? I know people want it there, but that is not the same thing as "most likely."

While I agree that is a perhaps the best place I am not certain it the most likely space. Going there would require land clearing and probably infrastructure improvements.

For these two reasons my money is on Hurler coming down.

If they were getting a coaster in hurlers place, I can almost guarantee it wouldn't be in 2016. Taking a wooden coaster down would take a while so if a coaster was to go there in 2016 hurler would be shut down already and being deconstructed.

Also kd is known for coaster numbers, adding a new one in hurler's place would be the same amount of coasters but a better one than worse. I also love kd cause they still have 3 woodys.

My only reason for believing this is that it seems like the new CF management wants to expand dead areas of the park. They put F325 in the space at Carowinds with the diner and hurler called the "Thrill Zone" which needed some new life.

I think CF would do something similar at KD because of the imbalance between zones at KD. The Grove area and Old Virginia area can be 99% even on packed days during the summer due to a lack of "new stuff" for the GP to do back there, while the Safari Village area is totally packed because of all the newer rides.

Also, it would be awesome to have another coaster go through the trees similar to grizzly.

Just my 2 cents.

They don't announce anything until the end of august typically, even if they already started construction months before-hand.

A little bit ago I was scrolling around kd's page and saw a drawing of the roller coasters.  If you look in the back left you can see a light pink/orange hyper coaster(if it is pink the letters they put are also pink "go whenever you want").  This could be a miss draw because it isn't the right drop tower in the picture, but could KD have meant to put it there and been hinting at their 2016 ride like they did for soak city last year?

You can see the hurler, part of the shockwave, part of anaconda, part of dominator, and intimidator 305, so what is this mysterious ride.

I saw that yesterday and thought about posting it. Then I realized there was a green corkscrew in there, a first gen Intamin drop tower, and various other generic roller coaster representations. I wouldn't look too much into it.
Edit: Also the Dominator representation shows an immelman or diveloop, neither of which is consistent with the actual coaster.

KD could still be hinting at something despite the ride layouts.

Highly doubtful, considering the advertisements are created by corporate marketing for Cedar Fair. It's probably just a filler for the ad. The main focal point is the Eiffel Tower and I305. Like Trevor said, don't read into it too much. Advertisements and park maps seem to lack a certain level of continuity when it comes to accurate representations of rides/attractions these days.

I thought Shockwave was painted green in recent memory.

Like I stated earlier, there is a certian lack of continuity in advertisements.

Example A. The lift for the "Arrow" coaster. If it's supposed to represent Anaconda, shouldn't the drop be turning?

Example B. Look VERY closely under I305, there are fading loops that appear to be purple. KD doesn't have a purple roller coaster.

Example C. Drop Tower.

But hey, I want a new coaster! So, I'd love to be proven wrong! I just think creating hype over an advertisement that's main purpose is to promote a season pass Isn't the best place to look for clues.
