I've actually noticed that Alpie is quieter than when it first opened... way back in the day. I kind of enjoy the slow accent on Nessie too. Love it when the train is going by, I always try to wave at them as well as the folks on the sky ride. :)
Yes. Slow ascent is relaxing. Just like the log flume.
Waving is super nice & fun. Makes me feel good. :D

I still don't get why the anti-rollbacks are so damn loud :dodgy:

It's not like the B&M's that have padding on the bottom of the anti-rollbacks to reduce the noise.

That isn't the case for Alpengeist. That is the loudest anti-rollback system I have ever heard, and I've been on a decent amount of roller coasters. Now the brake pads on arrows are the loudest brake pads I've heard, but I haven't been on to many arrows so I don't have that much experience.

I suppose when you are used to old coasters, you kinda get nostalgic for the LOUD click clack sound. I can tell you right now that if I didn't hear Nessie in the background of the bagpipe music.. I would be very sad indeed.

If you think Nessie's rollback system is loud, you haven't ridden Great American Scream Machine.
I think if LNM's lift was sped up then this will probably pretty much sound like this. But seriously The Great American Scream machine, really screams at you on the lift hill.:p

I rode Nessie on Tuesday and today (Saturday) and I noticed that they brought back several of the old strobe lights in the cave. They are not very brights and they are hard to see, but they are there.

Huh? I rode that on PMPD and I noticed that there was one very bright one, that was working I must not have noticed the others. Oh! Do you remember if it was running a 3rd train when you were there? Because usually BGW doesn't take the third train out of the maintenance bay until somewhere around spring break. I would really like to know if it is out.

Ya, it was running 3 trains both days I went.

Went today, at first they were running 2, then they added a third one at 12, when it seemed like everybody decided to show up. Oh! And those of you can't see the strobes, they are on, you just have to look behind you, around the middle of the cave you can see them on.(if you look behind the train.

Just to add to some epicness(even a word?) of Nessie's 35th...the should have Sean Connery to the voice over for the ride! Or they could just use me for the voice, I have over 150 of them!

Two big guys can sit next to each other in the very front. Nice shot!!
