We decided to compare the two new trains, since people seem to be having such wildly varied experiences. The bottom line is that they were very different.

For context, we rode both in the last row, and managed to get on consecutive trains. It was about 1pm and 45 degrees, so it was cold, but the coaster had been running for several hours. We had relatively full trains both times, as well.

Train 1: Rough (slightly more so than Nessie used to be), but the classic pulling sensation in our stomachs was there.

Train 2: Smooth, but weak forces.

Obviously, things may change as the coasters are broken in and when it is warmer. Additionally, the park could modify one or both of them.

For now, however, it seems that everyone should probably consider their priorities, when deciding which train to ride.

How does one identify the train number? Is there something on the back of the train? I don't remember.

I experienced something similar, but I'm not sure if it was the train or the row that made the big difference. I rode in the back at the beginning of the day and in the front at the end of the day. The second ride was quite rough.

Today i was in the very back of train 2. When the train pulled back into the station it stopped 3 feet short. The ride ops were confused. All of the other harnesses were released but we in the back how have ours manually released. We were barely in the station. They loaded the next train as if everything was ok. The gates didnt line up with the train in the wrobg position.

Lol I was the kid in the black jacket waiting to get into the second to last row. The ride operators looked generally concerned. After you guys left and I was loaded on, they reset the ride and it moved back into position. Verbolten and Loch Ness station issues in one day. New record.

I have tried these new trains in so many orders, and I just get slammed each time. It might be my body type that is the cause of this, but now I feel like Anaconda is smooth in comparison.

LNM was always one of my favorite rides in the park. Now I just hear it go "clunk!" as it thuds against the awkward banking coming out of the first drop. Normally I would love airtime, but the new harnesses give me to much room to be bashed about.

I don't think I could ever be mad at Nessie, but she just isn't like she used to be. I miss the old trains. I would gladly scrunch up to fit in the old trains, just to have Nessie back to being herself.

Interesting. I will say this. If you have your head directly on the headrest on train 1 while going through either of the loops, it’s going to be hell. I tested every row on the second train, and I’ll be focusing on the first train today. I tested different head positions, and I’ve found the best way to ride. Putting your head back until the bottom of the first drop will keep that portion of track enjoyable. That first turnaround can be iffy in some rows on both trains. Stiffening your neck while holding your head to the left while entering the turnaround will actually make it fun. With both loops, don’t have your head touching anything. Have your head still up, but not touching the restraints or headrest. This isn’t too big of a problem on train 2, but this is needed on train 1. There isn’t much when it comes to the cave. If you’re in the front of either train and you’re entering that turn into the MCBR, there isn’t much that you can do. It’s a pretty weird part of the ride for front seat riders. Airtime while entering a slightly banked turn isn’t the most enjoyable thing, but my best tip is to sit near the back. It makes the transitions much smoother, and you get hella fun airtime on all 3 drops. Same premise with the second loop. This one isn’t as bad, but still. Hover your head back while not touching the restraints or headrests. This allows your spine to absorb the forces a bit more because you aren’t so fixed against another surface. It also eliminates most of the headbanging.

The best train on Nessie in my opinion is Train 2, Left seat of the front of car 7. It’s the magic seat for the ride. Like I said, I’ll be doing more testing today on train 1 to find the best seat.

Hope these tips make the experience more enjoyable for you.
