I certainly could’ve made a trip if Ka’s final day of operation wasn’t the day before I moved from Indiana to South Carolina, the writing was more than on the wall.

That said, I probably wouldn’t have gotten too much enjoyment out of seeing my longest wait times for it since like 2011.

There was enough time for me to hear the rumors of its demise and make a trip to the park for the sole purpose of getting some final rides on it; there was enough time for others to hear the rumors and stage a protest. There was also time after the closure was obvious, or announced, before the actual demolition took place.

I wasn't actively following online thoosie outlets at the time and I don't think rumors qualify as fair warning anyways so I'm always gonna believe the closure itself was indefensible as it did rob me of a goodbye. I don't think many people disagree with that sentiment. Grief takes time and everyone handles it differently. Maybe Dave is just coming to terms with the loss now

I just think it would be exhausting to still be that upset about a roller coaster removal of all things after this long. As someone who really did like it and rode it hundreds of times from 2008-2022, the revisionist history on its popularity and cultural relevance has been so fucking strange to witness.

I think the aggrandization and whitewashing is proportionally reactionary to the fact that its corpse was quietly and briskly swept into the scrap yard. and now these mfs are selling shirts saying "never eliminated" with "the ride never ends" under it.

When I first got into the hobby the common sentiment in the community was always "Ka is good, but dragster is better". I took the ride for granted until the very end, it shot up my rankings as soon as I got my last rides and the writing seemed to be on the wall. It always felt like a ride that would just always be there. Have a feeling that many others felt similarly.

I still rank TTD one spot above Ka (#28/29) despite my experience with TTD being one or two rides 14 years ago versus Ka essentially being my summer plans for so many years. Lap bars made a world of difference on it, and I hesitate to say Ka’s launch track had a rattle, but it certainly wasn’t smooth. I’ll take Storm Runner over either one any day though.

My sole regret with Ka is that I somehow never got a rollback, but there isn’t exactly much I could’ve done about that. Ka could’ve operated twice as long and I still could’ve ended up without one, though I witnessed plenty from the station (which was annoying knowing it could’ve been me if I got there a bit sooner).

Like the time has long since past. The replacement is actively nearing the end of construction, what is the end goal? Lmao
I would like to remind everyone that Project Purple is NOT the Ka replacement, but rather the Green Lantern replacement.
