I wouldn't call it angry Ka fans, I'd call it passionate people from the NYC/Philly metro areas that are pissed, rightfully so. This is something CF is gonna have to learn to deal with, as the people here treat GAdv like a sports team they're a fan of. If it gets neglected, they will be very upset.

I mean, as much as I wish Ka hadn’t closed, I do think a lot of people are being completely outrageous about it and I think they would’ve been whether the closure was announced beforehand or not. There is no easy way to close the world’s tallest (and fastest operating) coaster and drop tower, and SF was in for a shitshow regardless.
Intamin accelerators are expensive headaches to maintain and it doesn’t shock me at all that they’re going extinct. Do I wish we had another decade or more of Ka? Absolutely, but this is a business. I don’t want to think about what 20 season of operating Ka cost them, especially with one off situations like the rerouting of the queue, the 2009 lightning strike, and the 2011 earthquake/Hurricane Irene week from hell.
I’ll admit that I could very much be speaking from the bias of someone who lived about an hour away from it for 17 of its 20 seasons. That said, I think there comes a point where people gotta realize no apology or amount of complaining will change the outcome. Occasionally I’ll still get annoyed or upset that Rolling Thunder and the Scream Machine are gone, but I’ve gotten over it for the most part. It was an icon, but nothing lasts forever.

Yeah CF is gonna realize very quickly that Great Adventure isn’t Dorney Park. It’s the top park for the joint NYC/Philly metro (Hersheypark is realistically a little far away to be considered for NYC). Closing the most recognizable coaster at the top park in the area with no warning was a boneheaded decision, and Northeastern people don’t react rationally when they feel like they’ve been disrespected, and that’s really where the backlash is coming from. Giving your paying customers no warning before closing one of the most popular rides at the park they’re paying to go to is disrespectful. You have to understand the people you’re trying to make money from, and us Northeasterners are a proud and boisterous bunch. The NYC/Philly/Boston sports rivalry is one filled with trash talk and championship pride. Having the tallest roller coaster in the world in our backyard was a point of pride for us, and the company took those bragging rights away from us, once again with no warning. We take stuff like that personally. It’s just how we are. Hopefully the company learns from this huge blunder and doesn’t pull something like this again.
Ain’t wrong about the northeast and not acting rationally lol. I’ve been out for most of the past 4 years, but I’m Jersey born and raised, and I’m still learning to be more patient with southern drivers and that people will occasionally give you a nasty look for throwing expletives around like nobody’s business.

Interesting to note that it was filed as an alteration. Still says demo in the comments, but I wonder if it was a misinput or if they’re planning on reusing something, even just the station.
Given the markers in the station I suspect that they are planning on reusing it.

Northeast's Biggest Loser
This is like when the Texas Chute Out got imploded for the SkyScreamer. I hope the new coaster goes well! At least I rode Storm Runner, and from what I heard here, Storm Runner is better than Ka!
Having ridden Storm Runner, Kingda Ka, and Top Thrill Dragster in its original form, Storm Runner is the best of the three. Having an actual layout after the launch makes a huge difference believe it or not.
Storm Runner is for sure the best, but Kingda Ka’s intensity is something that just can’t be matched. I do think there’s a lot of revisionist history going on (especially in YT comment sections and on Reddit) considering 6 months ago, Ka was labeled a one trick pony, and now people are acting like its removal is the end of the world and will kill Great Adventure.
It WAS a one trick pony. That is undeniable, but that isn’t always a bad thing and it certainly wasn’t in this case. The amount of negativity towards the extreme spinner is insane considering the GP would eat that up, and so would a ton of enthusiasts.
We watched something similar with TT2, with people acting incredibly negatively towards the swing launch in comparison to the hydraulic launch, and yet people loved it (for the like 15 minutes it was open lol).
