Which is why the Drachen Fire plot should have been redeveloped so much sooner. If a family coaster had gone there (a woodie?) or if the thrill coaster that could have gone there had meant Le Mans could have been replaced with a family coaster, then the Wolf’s replacement could have been free to be a thrill coaster that doesn’t pull its punches.

In hindsight you can say all that but keep in mind the Drachen Fire site didn't sit dormant after the coaster was removed. They turned the open field next to into Festhaus Park and for many years was used as an event space for Howl-O-Scream, concerts, corporate outings and passholder events. Also, the park has been hesitant to put another coaster there after DF's failure and also the numerous noise complaints it received from the Kingsmill residents.

The Arrow loud lift noise was presumably responsible for a big chunk of those complaints.

It's probably safe to say that even though many wanted something big to take the place of the DF and boneyard, it simply would never happen.

That's because DF's lift towered over the treeline and the sound of the anti-rollbacks carried over the wooded area into the neighborhood. DF's lift was no louder than any other Arrow coaster but with its peak being well above the treeline it didn't have the advantage like BBW did to have its sound buffered by the trees.

Because it was themed to the wolf character from the iconic Brothers Grimm fairytales (although the name "Big Bad Wolf" in specific was popularized by the Disney Three Little Pigs cartoon, the character has been called that in all forms of media depicting him for the last 90 years)
The ride being a suspended coaster had nothing to do with the name, just the theme of the wolf from the stories

...and the Grimm Fairytales being German, and its located in the German Hamlet of the park.

Also the way the cars would go around the city portion of the ride was to resemble a wolf on the prowl through the city terrorizing the villagers and the drop into the river was meant to represent the wolf's demise.

The new coaster is supposed to be the town being free of the wolf for all these years and its come back to haunt the villagers.
