I can still hear that thud when it swung around and stopped followed by the ring that would resonate through the entire track in my head.
Someone posted the link for the demolition photos on the Holzfaller thread and I was looking for more demolition pics and i found this little gem the track maintenance car
I was really young when BBW was demolished and haven't ever been on it, yet seeing all the old pics makes me feel nostalgic for a coaster I've never seen in my life (or at least not that I remember), and as someone that's generally not quite as enthusiastic as many of the other members on this forum, it genuinely looks like the best coaster concept (sorry it's just a concept in my mind) I've ever seen. Maybe this is part of why I'm so excited for Holzfaller - it's the real life proposal of a fantastic ride which I have no real recollection of. I've never seen BBW but I know Holzfaller will never do quite the same thing. It sounds dumb that I can have such feelings for something that I haven't personally experienced, but I just had to get it out.
I took this my during my first trip to Christmas Town that same year. I had also visited during HOS that year and missed my chance to get final rides by a month while it was SBNO. Shame I only got to ride it three times but that's better than none.
How long did it sit there? I remember my first visit it was maybe there? But my second it was like a seating area?
BBW closed on Labor Day 2009 so it sat for about 2.5 months before they started demolition.
A video of the last ride with the contest winners came up on my youtube feed the other day and I was fine watching it, then I saw Nora come walking up the ramp with her wolf shirt on and get in the car and I lost it. I'll have to see if I can find the link.

They should have just built Verbolton in drachen fires plot of land, and just gave the Big bad Wolf The legend lives on treatment
Big Bad Wolf was retracked in several high stress areas. Track being, the tube rails themselves, not the entire track lochness style. The Arrow suspended train was pretty hard on itself as well as the track. Practically speaking, it's not a good concept. The outcome however, was outstanding.
I do agree that Verbolten should've been built in Drachen Fire land, much more in the style of Th13teen.

Big Bad Wolf should have been replaced with a B&M flyer— that drop to the Rhine would have been amazing, just like the original.
BBW had a minimum 42" height requirement. Replacing it with a coaster that requires you to be a foot taller to ride would've been a bad business decision.
Which is why the Drachen Fire plot should have been redeveloped so much sooner. If a family coaster had gone there (a woodie?) or if the thrill coaster that could have gone there had meant Le Mans could have been replaced with a family coaster, then the Wolf’s replacement could have been free to be a thrill coaster that doesn’t pull its punches.

Entire sections of track were replaced. you could tell because the strong back rail (the large center rail) was switched to a bolted connection unlike the original strong back that was just welded, It was also a thicker tube schedule 40 to schedule 80, All the high stress sections the drop turn to the climb up to the station, the s bends in the village and the helix. The bolted strong backs are clearly visible in later photos from the 90"s on
