Tempesto's "Comfort Collar" Releases During Ride

Trust me, the more coasters you ride, the less you will like OSTRs and gratuitous seatbelts.

Seriously, in my experience as you grow more comfortable with coasters, you also become acclimated to the danger and need increased thrills.  You also learn to trust the restraints.

I'm not a fan of Tempesto, but I think the park ruined the one interesting aspect of the coaster by adding the pointless "comfort collars."

Apollo and Fury wouldn't be as good, if they had OSTRs, instead of lap restraints.

One last thought, OSTRs can beat up people's heads, depending on height.  There are several, no doubt, great inverts that I dislike, because I emerge with a massive headaches.  Afterburn, for example.

One valid point where OSTR were bad for guests was Flight of Fear @ KD. When they had OSTRs, I would come out with headaches and I'm 6'4. They got rid of the OSTRs and now just have lap restraints which is different being that the ride does loop but I feel safe in them. I've rode Tempesto once this year and I wasn't really impressed by the ride so haven't been back on it.

I imagine that the Rockin' Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios is nearly the same as FoF. They allowed carry on bags too and I almost lost my camera case in the inversion. Good thing I wrapped the strap around my foot. Those restraints are OTSR and really hard too. I don't remember banging around much, but I am 6'1 too.

Rockin' Roller Coaster is a Vekoma. No other explanation is necessary.

Rockin' Rollercoaster isn't smooth, but it doesn't beat you to a pulp like the Premier spaghetti bowls reportedly used to when they had OTSRs. One of the smoothest Vekomas I've ridden actually.

Anyway, I have ridden a sizeable number of coasters at this point and have never thought to myself "Wow, I really wish I had an over the shoulder restraint right now." and I suspect 95% of normal park guests have never thought about it either.

Moms Against Fun (MAFs) certainly want OSTRs. They also want more breaking.
