The weather and smaller crowd levels may have played a role in it, but last weekend, they weren't using that silly ride reservation system for this despite the app claiming otherwise. You could just get in line and enjoy. The previously faded character signs have also been neatly touched up...

...Which is good, since there's not much else to look at from the queue anymore!

I would be ecstatic if Superman got renamed with something unique that fit the Boardwalk area better. Harley Quinn should go back to Blackbeards Lost Treasure Train and Joker gets renamed something unique as well. Tired of the random DC stuff scattered throughout the park, it feels cheap.
If they went all-out with the ocean theme for the Boardwalk, they could add a Huss 2nd-gen Enterprise and Troika in the old GL/GASM spot.

I like the Jersey Shore Boardwalk theme idea (minus the MTV show and Snookie)... NJ has a lot of local pride like the Carolinas. Carowinds has been leaning in on the Carolina pride/history when creating new areas or ride themes. The Pine Barrens/Jersey Devil is kind of a start to that approach. I just hope they move in the direction of keeping all the DC rides in one area of the park. It's worth noting that Kings Dominion built a new coaster and re-themed their giga coaster in one year, so it's possible that Superman could get a new theme next year.

Man, whenever I tell people I’m from NJ, they jump straight to that dumbass show lol. It’s made worse by the fact that I grew up going to Seaside Heights, although I won’t deny the economic boom the show gave the area.

I also vaguely recall most of the Jersey Shore cast not doing anything to help after Hurricane Sandy and the 2013 fire until they faced backlash for it. Can’t remember whether it was Snooki or JWoww that did actually donate prior, but props to whoever it was. Star Jet was one of only two coasters I ever got my grandma to go on, the other being Bubbles the Coaster lol.

If they did a modern Shoot the Chutes to finally replace Movietown Water Effect I think the Boardwalk would be the perfect location for it.
A bit of a tangent, but I never could get myself to call it "Movietown Water Effect." It was always Splashwater Falls to me. I get that they were trying to retheme it to fit that section of the park, but MTWE just seemed like such an overly contrived name.
Also, surprisingly, despite having been in the park many, many times while the ride was there, I somehow never got around to riding it. I guess it always just seemed like a less picturesque version of the log flume to me.

But yes, a new water ride on the boardwalk would fit in nicely. I just wonder if management might think it's redundant, being a bit too close to the log flume (also, would they be hesitant to add water rides, not wanting to steer people away from Hurricane Harbor? I don't know.)

My first visit to the park was 2003, so I never knew it by any other name. And sure it was less picturesque than the log flume, but it got you infinitely wetter so it was much more effective on a hot day. The fact that it offers a much different ride experience than the log flume also means it wouldn’t be redundant to have it at the Boardwalk. I mean, MTWE was much closer to the Hydro Flume and Congo Rapids than a similar installation in the Boardwalk would be to SMLF. And water parks offer a different experience than a water ride in a “dry” park, as in park water rides allow you to cool off in the summer without having to pay for a separate ticket for the water park. Having a water ride in the Boardwalk gives guests an option to cool off in the middle, left, and right of the park, which also helps with crowd control.

Possible cannibalism with HH is likely one reason why the park is still down to two water rides along with NJ's short warm season. I still miss the Moon Flume.

For some reason, I always called that one Splashdown, but it went through so many name changes.

I miss having the Adventure Rivers in the main park. They really offered a good bit of variety from the other kinds of rides, and I actually liked the fact that I could ride them without having to change into swimming trunks.

2 Water rides seems to be the average at most regional theme parks, even larger ones these days. I see flat rides and obviously a coaster coming to Great Adventure before a water ride. With water rides being added to other Six Flags parks we might see something come 5-6 years from now. We shall wait and see what comes our way!

I do agree, a water ride in the boardwalk... if they keep that theme... would be a fantastic fit!

Should have posted this sooner because it's a pretty important improvement. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in any of the update videos yet.

THEY SCRAPED THE GUM OFF THE PRE-LIFT BRAKE RUN PLATFORMS. And applied a nice coat of red paint!
Honestly I was looking at the track itself today and was impressed by the vibrancy of the paint. Has it gotten a repaint in the last few years?
