There are better details on twitter.

Hopefully the Cedar Point ops actually enforce how this system is going to operate instead of "did you put your stuff in the pouch? ok."

I for one hope that they aren't super strict about it and make you empty pockets before getting in line. They do that at Universal and is definitely a buzzkill when wanting to ride a coaster.

If it’s the same operation as Twisted Timbers, they’ll make you empty your pockets inside the station just before being sorted into rows. Guests (in theory) will place these items in the zippered pouch located beneath each seat.

Not as much a buzzkill as losing something valuable or injuring someone else, because something flew out of your pockets.

@b.mac Why is that disappointing?
That might be because they are constantly having to adjust to counter the bad decision making of their riders.

Replying to both at the same time to save my breath but they've had similar incidents at other parks in years past. Those parks have adopted measures to prevent this situation from happening, which have actually prevented phone strikes from happening, I may add. Yet, Cedar Fair as a whole feels a need that they have to reinvent the wheel for this every single time their measures fail.

So I don't know exactly what Cedar Point did but a higher being must honestly hate the idea of Steel Vengeance existing right now. It apparently got struck by lightning yesterday during a line of storms and has been down all day today.

The park has not released an official statement, but has been replying to concerned guests on twitter that they're hoping it'll be open at some point today.
