^ Pretty much this. I feel as though a patriotic atmosphere will actually compliment the European influences, in a way similar to that of New France. Here's to the Heroes back in the AB days was actually one of my favorite things the park did. I would love to see such an event revisited.

I'm not sure I see the correlation between a hamlet themed as "Canada" and an event themed to American jingoism.

Withholding judgement. The park has always been somewhere between what Williamsburg is (an immersive fake environment) and what Disney's California Adventure [was] (a themed backdrop). It's possible to do non-European themed events, so long as the aesthetic of the event blends -- and that's an imprecise science.

This could be pretty good or horribly bad, depending on execution.

I love the name of the event, and I hope it is a success for the park. The large light up bugs and tinsel in July were just too much last year to take in. That fakeness took away from the beauty of the park. Give it a chance before you start knocking it. This is why people don't enjoy themselves. They throw that negative about things out there and it just sticks. JMHO So have some optimism about the park and the event. Y'all could be proven wrong.

I was in conversation with a cast member today during f+wf. San Marco will be getting a bar during SSN the name should be the USO bar. It will be where the spain food both is now or grape stomping area.

Will it actually be associated with the real USO? If not, I think it is potentially offensive to use the name of an organization with the mission of supporting deployed troops as the name of a bar.

Perhaps they will have some form of deal with the USO, like so many profits will be donated.

They did partner with Coca-Cola for all those billboards during Christmas Town.

Comparing the use of a Cola sponsor and Non-profit-quasi-GO is, and not for the first time tonight, a logical fallacy.

This whole concept leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
Having availed myself of an actual "fabulous" USO show, the notion that a "fake" USO bar in the middle of Italy is just weird.  If it were perhaps themed in a nice WWII Patton invasion of southern Europe I might be amused.

I am not bothered by the Military being associated with a bar, alcohol is after all a proud part of our military tradition.  (remember sailors used to get a rum allotment and today steel deck parties in port are common)

If they really are going to insist on this nonsense they might consider breaking out some the actors and costumes from October.  After all what would a military bar be without working girls?

This would be the a way people would support it along with San Marco bridge being themed back to the tribute to the troops, and a big stretch here a band like the starlight orchestra playing at night.

There is no USO bar but there is an Independce Grill and a Victory Canteen. A new signature frozen watermelon martini and another new kiosk will also have a handmade watermelon sorbet.

Don't forget a glow stand with tons of red white and blue. And mini flags available for guests at each gift shop.
