No but day guests that are paying the same ticket price as any other day should
get what they are paying for.

Slight item of contention here: There's complaints about when things are discounted and it's not fair, but when they don't discount it's not fair. I think that's not right to put them in that corner.

The park today is moderately busy yet many things are closed and most of the food places have fairly long lines. The train is running at about 40 minutes round trip with one train running, no sky ride, no pompeii, no flume, most snack stands aren’t open, the food line at Smokhouse had one line open and the queue went back and fourth.

1 - It's a Thursday in April. Like @Zimmy said, most their staff is likely not available. 2 - Yes I like taking the train and sky ride for enjoyment....but if it's too windy the sky ride closes....people should walk anyways. 3 - Pompeii is under repair. 4 - Its not even Memorial Day so having LeScoot down doesn't bother me. 5 - Same thing with Snack Stans as the sky ride. Oh well I have to walk a little more for something.

I feel there should be more transparency on what will and will not be open on slower days.

How so? I'm not sure what that would really achieve. I think part of not announcing is it allows them to move what's open and closed based on who's there. If it's a day with lots of kiddo's they can shift focus to those rides. If there isn't as many they can shift around there.

I’m here all the time but for a family that this is their one day a year here on vacation during spring break, a busy travel time and yet some of the popular things to do aren’t open.

Honestly, I know this sounds blunt and callused, but you (the family there) took a spring break trip to a place the weather isn't guaranteed to be that warm. And unless there's a untapped adult work force that wants to be in the amusement/hospitality industry in the Williamsburg area, this is always going to happen.

I'm pretty sure their "wait times" is also manually updated. Their ride wait times listed 30 minutes for Rapids (which is not even open yet), and also showed 45 minutes for Tempesto when it had been closed for days. It showed 45 minutes for Verbolten which ended up being 2 hours. One day, the wait times wouldn't even come up. And they were missing quite a few rides.

Thanks for your expert opinion...they should possibly put this on the sign at the entrance to the Skyride because im sure everyone that rides is just being lazy to get from one part of the park to another. Maybe they should put on the sign at the Abbey Stone "no preformances today, maybe you should read a book anyways".

My point is that by the app and the sign outside they only show one or so attractions as not operating when in fact there are many. I understand staffing is a issue but they need to figure out how to fix that, using the excuse that everyone is still in school is just that a excuse. Offer seasonal positions to people with higher pay to get them to work untill the school kids are out for the summer. I look at Hershey, it seems the average age of employees is much older there, what are they doing diffrent that people want to work there. Im sure they could find plenty of folks that would be interested in a couple months of work in the early season before it gets really hot and then possible try to hire them again in the fall. But in order to get those people you have to treat the employees better, having people scheduled to work only to have them drive in and then send them home after a hour or two is discouraging, also coming to them after they have worked 6 hurs and asking of they want to stay and work so and so's shift dosent cut it either. Then if they dont take those shifts they cut their hours as punishment so either they quit or the cave and work. My encounters with the older employees in the gify shops and places like the train are great, most seem happy to be there where as most younger kids act like they could care less they are just there to do the minimum and go home. Not everyone but the majority.

Well walking is a bit more involved in this park than others since there doesn't seem to be too many flat areas, and you have to walk around the circle unless you want to go through those steep steps between Scotland and Germany. It would be nice to have another train station, etc.

Ooh, if this whole staffing thing isn't figured out by the fall, it's really going to bite them in the butt when Howl-O-Scream comes along and they want to hire a ton of monsters.

The point of the walking comment was you are at an amusement park. If you are there, you're likely working under the assumption that you have to walk a lot. Hershey is just as (if not more) hilly than BGW and lacks any transportation system like BGW.

I honestly dont consider the Skyride or Train transportation, I ride them for the fun and enjoyment or a diffrent viewpoint of the park. I would say 99% of my train rides are round trip and most times I do the same with the cable cars, I just have to get off and back in line.

I ride them round trip as well, but they are first and foremost transportation rides. More that 1 entrance/exit makes it transportation.

I have always enjoyed the skyride or train as well, however, with the advent of fitbits / apple watch / step counting apps, I will readily admit that after 33,000 steps in the park per day, I'm using both to get closer to the exit or to a spot I want to be after a full day at the park.

Hold up one sec... So, what you're saying is before step counting apps, you had no problem walking around more.. but now that you know you've already taken 33,000 steps you don't want to take more?

I don't see how step counting apps/devices is relevant here.

I think the point there is wearing those makes you more aware how much you've done and how tired you are. Like for me after a round of golf, my Apple Watch tells me I've burned 850 calories, took about 30,000 steps, walked 8 miles, and climbed the same as 30 flights. When I don't wear it, I don't realize how tired I am; but when I do, I'm more aware of how much I did and I get REALLY lazy and take a cart to my car.

Maybe this defeats the purpose of these devices...

I don't think so. I mean, for me that's double my move goal in a single day. 33,000 steps around BGW would take me about 3x my usual move goal. But the purpose of these devices isn't to stop you from doing something, it's to motivate you to do more. Like I'm working today and I tend to sit around at work some, so having it going off once an hour to remind me to get up and move makes me barely meet my move goal for the day.

So, we are currently sitting at Marco Polos eating. When we were ordering at 12:12 a person came up to the person serving my food and told her that as soon as she finishes serving me to clock out and go home. The girl asks why, she said something about projections or crowds or something. Doesn’t Marco Polos open at 11? So she came all the way to work for a hour? And they wonder why they have trouble keeping employees.
