Recently, Six Flags announced auditions for performers for a water parade and accompanying show. The production will feature two touring casts, one of which is scheduled to appear at Kings Dominion this summer midway through the tour (exact dates have not yet been released). The performers are being hired through a third-party company, and the casting appears to be limited to individuals based in New York City.

In addition to Kings Dominion, the production is slated to visit Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, Dorney Park, Carowinds, and Valleyfair.

Based on what I can find on ot I have mixed feelings. One one hand the kids which are a key demographic for the park will likely enjoy it. On the other hand it feels very much like a cheap way of saying see look entertainment without actually spending much on entertainment.

My main problem, as noted before, is how they’re going about hiring for the parade. Grand Carnivale featured many local performers and the parks would hire their own cast, but Six Flags corporate wants to cast everything this year through an agency. They even said in the posting that they want those auditioning to be based in NYC, which is unrealistic for so many people who just want to perform locally in an already saturated local performing job market.

Without dates we have no real idea the amount of time that they plan to run this at each listed park. Hiring on boarding, and training new preformers for each park is likely fairly expensive for something that may only be lasting a few weeks. I would think a traveling one time hire core group just might make for sense from a budget perspective.

Oh it totally makes sense from a budget perspective! It just sucks for those local performers.

I totally agree about the the lack of local performers, but here's hoping that the Splash parade isn't the ONLY entertainment for the summer. Budget cuts have really hurt, but going from Carnivale to the Golden Summerbration to just a parade would be a HUGE disappointment (no merch/food sale opportunities). I'm hoping that at minimum they at least still have a show on the main stage that alternates with the parade, and if those were local performers that performed all summer rather than the 3-4 weeks the parade will be in town, that will help. After all, they got a huge lighting package for ET, i-street and the main stage that hopefully they continue to put to use. Hopefully all that equipment wasn't just on loan.

If I'm not mistaken, the company hiring for the Splash Parade is different from Windish, who is also hiring for Six Flags live entertainment. I'd have to imagine that KD won't go all summer without some sort of replacement event right, even if it is scaled back? Or MAYBE we get a new iteration of Let's Get Wild...

I’d be surprised if Windish doesn’t have a show at KD this summer. They’ve been involved with something at KD pretty much every season for a few years now.

Also, yes, Creative Streak Entertainment is a different company and is hiring for all Six Flags parks this season. Parks seem to also be hosting their own auditions in addition to CSE, too.

I also agree on the event thing. They need to bring back an event similar to Grand Carnivale OR an event that runs along with the Water Parade.

That is a baffling decision. Why cut one of their top 10 parks? Also, why don’t they move Carowinds or Dorney to the Green Tour and split the dates of both tours between two parks? Odd all around.

If this stays, I hope Six Flags corporate considers allowing KD to hire its own local performers for the parade now that it’s only at their park. Originally, for anyone to be considered for this parade, they had to be based in NYC or commit to moving to NYC for a few weeks for rehearsals.

Also, guess we have our dates of approx. June 16th to August 14th!

Edit: Forgot to add that this is a definite win for KD. It also makes me wonder if the Herschend rumors were fabricated.

Looks like Over Texas (and ValleyFair for obvious reasons) got cut.

I too think this makes no sense, pulling it from Over Texas who is opening up a brand new coaster and clearly getting heavy investment. I know nothing has been confirm by six flags yet, but originally didn't this exact listing mention a month's time at each individual park? Giving it to KD for almost two months now is a huge win if that's the case, because I seem to remember it was only listed originally for a few weeks.

I don't want to be negative, but can I'll be the devil's advocate for a brief second. Is there a chance that:
  1. The Cirque Show got cut from KD? There's no indication of this, but stranger things have happened, the website still doesn't mention it officially, and even a day after it was announced by the park the name of the show itself changed. Keeping the water parade longer as a whole is a win, but could it be at the expense of any other entertainment or events? No other actual summer events or shows on the main stage have even been announced at this point.
  2. OR, are the rumors about KD being sold true, and in a week or two they will just completely cut that touring group and it won't come to KD at all. That's the only reason I could see Over Texas realistically being pulled from the tour in the first place, because the other two parks won't be Six Flags any longer.
Not trying to sound negative, but with the peculiar decisions Six Flags makes and the recent sales and rumors, I just always have to be skeptical that something seemingly good may have underlying agendas. Hopefully I'm wrong! Weird either way.

I, too, wonder if a potential sale changed things. From what I’ve heard, all of the stuff announced earlier this year is still planned to happen (the bands in residence, the cirque show).

The listing of shows on the new Six Flags site can be really spotty. Kings Island has in-park signage about all of its major shows but none of those are listed on the website yet. Cedar Point also posted a list of its shows for 2026 at Winter Chill Out but those haven't be put on the site either.

But like many have been saying lately, the new Six Flags hasn't always been making sense.
