What if it's under 200' but an INSANE experience? Here's a little coaster (75') that looks like it packs a lot of punch--

I'd be completely down for an under 200' launcher with a wild layout.

I think people are fine with a ride under 200 feet if it’s a great layout. I know a lot of people are wanting an Intamin Blitz and most of those fall under 200 feet. It’s just people don’t want the 200 foot shuttle.
They basically already have a 200' shuttle coaster in Flash. It would be quite redundant if this were to also be a 200' shuttle. However, I'm all for a coaster that's shorter in height if it is full circuit and unique.

I don’t know about others - but I’d sacrifice some height on the tower if the Spinner is the direction they’re going if it means that it’s a full circuit coaster with a longer layout and a more complete ride
I think among enthusiasts this is a very popular opinion. But if they do this the GP just won’t come back, the park is dead and needs an eye catching and gimmicky ride to get attendance back up. This is Great American Scream Machine all over again. The fate of the park is resting on this ride, if it’s not flashy enough to catch the attention of the GP it will fail. That’s why the shuttle spinner may be the best option.

I have zero issue with the strata shuttle personally. Really don’t think capacity is going to be an issue with attendance trends, and even if it is, I’m sure they’re investing in a turntable or switch track for their brand new headlining coaster. As much as some want to complain and say it would be the worst addition ever, I think all that will go out the window once it actually opens and is unlike any other ride on the planet.

People are underrating it like crazy. Even if it’s not close to being my first choice for a replacement, it’ll still be at minimum the second best coaster in the park pretty easily.

A 400ft drop with spinning trains sounds like it’d be one of the most intense elements on the planet.

Not to mention an inverted launch, that’ll be a true “holy shit” element. I think we’ve just reached a point where some won’t be happy no matter what and it’s exhausting. They could announce a clone of Falcon’s Flight and people would still complain.

I saw someone say on Reddit earlier that they think people like the idea of Kingda Ka more than they ever actually liked the ride, and I’m somewhat inclined to agree. As it stands, Ka is my 3rd highest ranked coaster at the park behind GASM (big surprise) and Nitro, and it would absolutely be 4th if my last few rides on El Toro hadn’t been fairly terrible. I can also see myself realistically liking Flash more.

My viewpoint on Ka tends to get a ton of heat on Reddit, and I’d be willing to bet the majority of it is from people who hadn’t been on it nearly as much as me (if at all). It’s always great to be able to come here and speak freely on it with people who aren’t part of the “this is the end of great adventure!!” hivemind LOL

I will disagree with you on the capacity argument assuming there isn’t some sort of turn table. Believe someone did the math and the shuttle can match Ka’s throughput from the last few years IF it has a turntable. Without that the lines would be atrocious, just look at Flash this year, because crowds WILL increase with this new addition.

Agree with you on the other point though, once this open the hate will be gone. I’ve said for a while now it looks much better than Top Thrill 2, don’t know if it will top Ka but I’m not ruling it out.

There has definitely been a ton of revisionism about Ka over the course of the past year. A lot of people were fairly dismissive of it before it became known that it was going to be removed. Many decried the restraints, complained about the rough ride outside of the first few rows and pointed out that the ride was short and forceless after its admittedly face-melting launch. I'm definitely still in that camp and think they could replace Ka with just about any large-scale coaster and it would be an improvement. If the Mack tower spinner is what they really end up going with, I can't imagine that it won't completely blow Ka out of the water. That being said, Toro is by far the best ride in the park and one of the GOATs at that; with the promised retracking on the horizon, I don't see that changing any time soon.
