Thinking of going this Saturday to get the credits. Never been, even though I've lived in the area 30 years. What do you all think crowds will be like? Any particular plan for attacking the park?

Just a guess, but I think the coaster credits should be relatively easy to get during the day on Saturday since SFA's Hurricane Harbor will be having their "One Last Splash" event (it's a well kept HH and is worthy of some time, even if it's just to walk around and observe, if you have a pass).

To give an idea, I arrived at the park around 12:30 last Sunday (figure 1:10 or so for the coasters since I did a Hurricane Harbor lap first) and went in this order:

Wild One - 15 minute wait
Firebird - Walk on
Joker's Jinx - 15 minute wait
SkyWinder - Station wait
Roar - Walk on
The Great Chase - 15 minute wait

Roar is right next to Firebird and can be done before SkyWinder.

The maintenance team was visibly working very hard to get Ride of Steel working last weekend, but ultimately it didn't operate. It probably would have seen decent lines while also being a good crowd eater for the other rides.

Oddly enough, The Great Chase might have been the credit I waited the longest for. Ragin' Cajun probably had a 10 minute line when I entered the park and a 30-40 minute line after 6 PM. Between the longer line and not wanting to take the risk of being dizzy for the 3.5 hour ride home, I opted to skip it in favor of re-rides on Wild One and Roar.

If your goal is to get every credit, Ragin' Cajun might be a good place to start. Everything flows out neatly and naturally from there; the park has a nice layout that's easy to navigate.

I stopped by the park yesterday for a few hours for what could possibly be my last visit, but that could change depending on how my weekends look next month. I have to say, despite Fright Fest being canceled, the park did a great job decorating the park for the Kids Boo Fest. I wasn't expecting the decorations that they had for a kids event. However, if they were Fright Fest props, makes sense to not waste them. For a Saturday, it was actually a great day to visit the park. Crowds were pretty minimal and I was able to ride everything except for Ragin' Cajun, Firebird (Skipped as always) and of course Batwing, multiple times. Even Superman's line was short despite one train operations.

I also want to give a shoutout to the employees yesterday as well. They were much better than before on my previous visits this year. Ride ops did their best enforcing line jumpers and phone policy on rides. The two ride ops checking restraints on Screamore's SkyWinder were some of the fastest I've seen in any park this year. I'm sure they were racing each other on who can check the restraints on their side the fastest. It's nice seeing they're still doing the best they can to give a good experience to guest, despite the park closing for good in a couple months. Another thing I will miss the most about this place is their stunt shows. I'm not much of a show person when it comes to theme parks, but I've always enjoyed the stunt shows they do here. Something you can't find at KD or BGW,

Even though I doubt it, I hope to make it back out one more time before they close. It didn't strike me until I was leaving on how much I was going to miss this place.

Get a Kings Dominion gold pass through the MVP sale. You can still buy a new one for $89 and will get you parking and admission to SFA this year, and all other Six Flags parks now through the end of 2026.

The most expensive SFA single day ticket I saw was $45 on a saturday in October. You would still have to pay for parking.

For $89 the KD pass is the way to go. Even SFA is telling you to buy one lol

looks like they hinting that some things are gonna get moved to great adventure
Nope this was a rack that originally was going to Great Adventure but was shipped to SFA help keep product in the gitt shops till the end. There gift shops currently have a strange collection of park merchandise from all over the chain.

I will be at the park on the 2nd for its final day. Does anyone know if I should expect any form of ceremony or anything when it closes? I'm sure there will be lots of enthusiasts and creators hanging out but I'm wondering if there will be anything official from the park (a speech, fireworks, anything like that)
Park closes permanently at 6PM that night, so I doubt fireworks, but I wonder if there will be anything else, or just a standard "six flags is now closed"

Not expecting anything significant but I have heard rumors that the park is planning on only allowing 75% capacity to ensure everyone has a smooth fun experience. That isn't from any source that I can vouch for just a general rumor that keeps popping up but if anyone is going I would say plan to be there early to be safe. Personally i will be at Wild One till they drag me out at close.

My plan is to be on Main Street until they scream at me... but yeah the park opens at 11am and I'm planning to get to the parking lot by around 10 so I can get in line.

I really hope park leadership puts something small together. Just a few words at park opening and close would be good enough for me, but the park definitely deserves to be honored in some way. I imagine the final stunt show may be worth seeing too. They've already been taking pot shots at Six Flags this season—hopefully on the last day it's no-holds-barred, open-season Six Flags hate.

I'll be there from open to close and will make an effort to highlight anything interesting via ParkFans' socials.

If anyone is on the fence about going, I'd say this: I've been a thoosie for a long time now and, thankfully, I've never had the opportunity to attend the closure of a park. Hopefully this is an opportunity most people never have again—but that would also mean that it's an exceedingly rare opportunity to have. It definitely won't be the best day to go ride all the rides—it definitely won't be the best experience someone could have at SFA—but it will forever be the last experience anyone can have at SFA and, at least for me, that makes showing up well worth it. As sad and somber as it may be, I see a lot of value in the experience.

Also, like @horsesboy, find me enjoying final rides on Wild One throughout the day. So incredibly tragic that a really good coaster that traces its history all the way back to 1917 will likely see the wrecking ball with so little recognition. Thoosies of two or three decades ago would be throwing a fit—ACE of that era would be attempting to arrange for its preservation and relocation (see efforts like Leap the Dips). Today though, I think there's wide acceptance that Six Flags just doesn't care at all and nothing any of us could say or do will overcome the simple profit motives of the (increasing desperate) corporation. Wild One deserves so much better.

I heard 50% but 75% would be a reasonable limit -- way above typical or probably even likely, but still enough to be dangerous.

I'm planning to go this Sunday.

The current ACE president was the head of the Mid-Atlantic chapter for years and is still very active in the region. I know that at both of the recent regional events she was repeatedly asked about not just Wild One, but also Firebird, and Batwing and their significance to enthusiasts. Her response was that no one at SF was willing to discuss anything about any rides at this point and that her hope was they would talk to ACE after the closer about their future and possible preservation of artifacts from them at least.

The entertainment for Kids Boo Fest is top notch and it definitely seemed to me that SFA had been gearing up for something much bigger in a full Fright Fest. A lot of the shows fit the bill for a major event. Getting to see 2 different stunt shows on the same visit was an absolute treat.

Many of the Six Flags America branded clothing items were already being sold at 40 - 85 (!) % discounts. The stores were freshly stocked in the morning, so they may be selling off in waves. Hopefully everyone who visits will be able to get their hands on a nice momento (needless to say, if you see something you like when entering the park, grab it immediately!).

While I sadly think Six Flags itself will provide absolutely nothing in terms of a proper sendoff, I believe this park's staff will take matters into their own hands with trying to make the day special. This past weekend, I was very impressed with the way every employee, from ops to concessions to entertainment, seemed staunchly determined to delight guests.

You could be in for some very nice surprises too, if the weather cooperates like it did on Sunday.
