The grey one is from the Nighthawk train that the park has had sitting in the woods since it closed, and the yellow one is from Firehawk.. You can tell because it has the extra pawl wheels used to raise/lower the seats from the loading position to the lying position, as seen in several of the pictures on RCDB: Nighthawk - Carowinds (Charlotte, North Carolina, United States) (actuation arms seen here on Firehawk: Firehawk - Kings Island (Mason, Ohio, United States)). Batwings trains don't have that piece, since they use hydraulics located on the trains themselves, instead of actuation by an arm on the platform, as shown here: Batwing - Six Flags America (Upper Marlboro, Maryland, United States). None of the photos of Nighthawk that I can find have that little "nubbin" piece a the very front of the car either, so maybe they're trying to hodge-podge together a functional train?

Realistically they’d have to use the Firehawk trains for Batwing—but I imagine there are some interchangeable parts, like wheels and restraints.

Also worth noting that ACE has an event at SFA tomorrow.

I find it very intriguing that this has reopened this year. It’s been down all year so far. It’s now opened again late into the 2025 season. Couple that with Shipwreck Falls also being opened up again after receiving a refurb and the Nighthawk/Firehawk trains showing up out of nowhere, and I wonder if this park is truly dead, or if there’s a tiny sliver of possibility this park doesn’t die?

Maybe they know Batwing either is dead or won’t be opening again for a while, so they wanted to open something else in Gotham City?

Cool that they opened it. I wish it was open a couple weeks ago when I was there. I remember the spinning being absolutely nuts on this thing when I rode it as a kid.

Do you think they will swap out that car for one on the Batwing train and get the ride up and running again?
That's actually Nighthawk and Firehawk cars both have been in the park's boneyard since before the season opened both were pulled for Display for the ACE event today and have nothing to do with the Batwing situation. Superman's closer is maintenance related and is expected to reopen in the near future. Batwing is 100% read to run if corporate will approve it to operate.

Throwing out a ray of hope the park said corporate is pushing for as many rides operating as possible and we have readily heard that they are concerned about the park's PR imagine and that was part of the reason for Frightfest being canceled. Seems a little odd to be concerned about the imagine of a park that is expected to be bulldozed in the next year so hopefully that is a sign that there is some hope for it in some form in the future.

Haven't been keeping up that closely with this, are they expected to announce hours through November soon, just no fright fest? Or is the park actually closing early September. Currently you can buy tickets through Sept 7, but the online calendar lists Sept 1 as their final day of operation lol.

Hours should be there somewhere for the fall they are still open and running Saturday, Sunday through November.

Decided to make a detour here for the 1st time in 20 years before VA and knowing the 2 in the back are down. I didnt exect much and for other big rides to be closed but all were open and even with 1 train on everything, didnt wait more than 15 min for anything. Dont remember much of the park last time, but I was pleasantly surprised. Clean, nice lil park, with a decent lineup. Too bad its going.

SFA is easily one of the more underrated parks. RIP at end of season. Unfortunately I've had physical health issues that have prevented me from being able to visit any park at least so far. I'm really going to miss Wild One and Batwing so I really hope I can do a visit some time before the end of the season.

I made my second visit of the season today and I can tell this this will be missed by many despite the reputation it's had over the years. Is the park perfect? No but it definitely is still a popular place as the crowds were decent today, even with two of their best coasters down at the moment. Sure school is about to start back up and families along with daycares are getting in their last bit of fun before the park is closed down for good. It seemed like a lot of guests were enjoying their visit today and a couple times I heard some guests mention how it was a shame it was closing.

I'm going to go down memory lane here for a little bit as this park holds sentimental value to me. When I was a kid during the Adventure World days, my parents would take me here all the time as it was closer and cheaper for us, especially when friends and family would come along. Parks like Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens were every other year or even a few years that we would visit. This park is one of the reasons why I love theme parks and roller coasters so much. So many summers were spent in the water park and riding rides like Pirate's Flight, Tilt-A-Whirl, Carousel and The Great Alonzo's Cannonball Coaster (the parks original kiddie coaster). And of course watching rides like Wild One, Python and Mind Eraser wishing I was tall enough to ride. Eventually, the year Roar had opened up, I was tall enough to ride and it was my second roller coaster after the Phoenix at Knoebels earlier that summer. It felt like a huge accomplishment at 6 years old to finally ride something like that at the time. And then there was HallowScream, Adventure World's Halloween event which was the first one I experienced, well before Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion started theirs. Those crisp cool nights of riding the Midnight Express Haunted Train Ride and getting the shit scared out of me will always be memorable lol. Haunted hayrides and some trick or treating was also available too. Then of course, Six Flags came and took over and I remember how excited I was to finally have one so close to home after seeing so many videos on VHS and looking on the internet of parks like SFMM, SFGAm and others. Having rides like Superman, Joker's Jinx and Batwing was a huge step up from what the park was. I know the park had it's issues, especially in the mid to late 2000s, which was one reason why we had stopped going for a while, but in the last few years, maybe 10, it improved much better than what we remembered.

I know Kings Dominion is my home park and my favorite, but losing this park is going to be a huge bummer. I would love for it to be saved and bought out by another company but that's wishful thinking.

I visited today for the first (and likely, final) time. I enjoyed most of the coasters I rode besides the kiddie credit, and employees were friendly. However most of the park is a unshaded mess with an awful layout. I enjoyed my time but man I can see why of all the ones they chose to close, this was the one. I really hope Wild one is saved but I don’t think it will be.

Adding shade trees and such is something they were working on, but I guess they decided to close instead of finish that effort.

They were retracking Wild One on Sunday which has me wondering if they’re planning to sell it as a theme park or just as land. I know they initially said as land to be developed but I also know Bowie doesn’t want to rezone it. There was also multiple parts of Wild One that had the top two planks replaced that was not there when I went opening day this year. Idk I can’t imagine it was that bad they needed to replace it I mean if you turn around and look at Roar it has multiple worse sections of track than anything on Wild One.

I mean Herschend did sell a few parks on the west coast recently they maybe could?

Maybe Six Flags will pull a Kentucky Kingdom; get all the rides it wants for its other parks out of there then sell it off as a small theme park to be developed by new owners.

Could you imagine if Lego or Universal built one of their family parks there and used some of the rides for it? They would be a high bidder for sure. Definitely a longshot but we can dream...
