In the real world crazy shit like this doesn't happen, but when it does there's usually a really crazy explanation...

So I ask you,
1726751611597.png

I will be excited later but there's some insane decision-making behind this, don't know the full extent or repercussions just yet...

This is literally the ultimate break-glass option, why's it being played now?

If TT2 becomes a loss for whatever reason, then they still retain their number of coasters.
They could do with another family/kiddie coaster at the front of the park near Kiddy Kingdom (Daddy Pig clone? Snoopy's Runaway Railway clone?). And then do a GCI woodie (in the vein of Mystic Timbers) where Snake River Falls/Shoot the Rapids was. That gets you to 20 without removing any legacy rides and hits all the major categories. Then they'd just need a dark ride to be real well-rounded...

Putting my thoughts together on this but this is really a diamond surrounded by dirt. It's such a cool addition but everything surrounding it is so bad. So, so, so bad.

Pros:
- First of its kind ride in the United States because this will *probably* end up opening before Circuit Breaker @ COTALand
- 48 inch height requirement, massive win for Cedar Point so long as they don't adjust that
- Genuinely interesting ride to liven up a dead midway between Valravn and Millennium Force

Cons:
- This is 100% a move to keep attention away from the failings of Top Thrill 2
- Same height restriction as Iron Dragon
- The tilt drop faces away from the direction of traffic for that midway, and is largely overshadowed by Valravn since it's built right next to it
- Capacity, this thing is going to be *trash* for Cedar Point if the 2 minute cycle time is accurate, 720 pph is not good enough for a park of Cedar Point's size
- There's not much else to show for the addition right now because this announcement was thrown together literally in under a month. I hope that the queue and station are only placeholders and there's actually a follow up into the look and feel of the ride area. Same thing for the midway this ride is going to occupy. It needs attention, bad.

I love it and will drive 7hrs to return to CP to ride this and other ides that were not open during the Solar Eclipse, TT2 or not.

Any of you confused/upset by this addition need only go to my home park, BGW and ride Tempesto, Pantheon, and DarKoaster, then hop on Verbolten, then examine 2025's ADDITIONAL B&M invert, and then take a moment to think about what CP did here.

It will sting less.😂

Good call on the height requirement, definitely a win there.

I still think the land was better suited for a family coaster, like a B&M launch, to complement Iron Dragon across the midway. But they couldn’t have put this anywhere else. After looking at it more the layout is differentiated enough from Valravn if you look past the gimmick.

So, I wonder if this means they have doubts about TT2 opening next year or ever?

Possibilities around TT2 that would necessitate a need for another attraction:
1. Train chassis needs to be redesigned and remanufactured, which is going to push any reopening to later 2025 or even 2026.
2. Reinforcement of the existing trains requires so much additional weight that 1 or more cars have to be removed further limiting capacity.

Could also just be that the new SF didn't have any better options, so CP gets another coaster just because.

I don’t see why adding this attraction would create any doubt for TT2. They probably just gave them this coaster because why tf not
It just seems so last minute— like “here’s this great new coaster! BTW, TT2 won’t be opening in 2025 either, but how ‘bout that tilt!”

I think the marketing ploy for this would be “Get ready to experience TWO new record breaking coasters in 2025”

I’m just excited for the US to get its first new-age Vekoma thrill coaster. I’ve been wanting a park here to get one for a while, and now it’s finally happening!

Maybe, but the last minute nature makes me think there’s a problem and they know TT2 is doubtful…
The press release says "As previously announced, the record-breaking triple-launch strata coaster Top Thrill 2® is scheduled to reopen in 2025."

Don't necessarily think this was related to TT2 but that it was just plopped after its previous two cancellations.

Don’t be daft. This is the real world where corporations don’t make multi-million dollar deals on a whim like this. Plus this is using the Cedar Dorms site, the single break-glass land option that they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to use unless they absolutely had to.

Looking at the rendering, it seems the tilt will face toward the Rougarou midway, which I think is a great placement. It’s a bit funny that a dive is placed next to a tilt, but the elements are so different that I don’t mind.
