Overgrown in garden terms is equal to uncared for. It really wasn't attractive, but that's my opinion.

I'd much rather have a full grown and filled in garden bed that look luscious than a bare empty look one that looks like it was just planted a day a go. Also, the surrounding trees contribute to the area as well. Now that they are all filled in with leaves, mostly, the whole parks looks luscious instead of dead. The trees just help to add that effect and really help to make the colors brighter in the garden beds.

Though, I still think the changes made by the England Skyride are more so preparations for the Scottish Cattle.

You are correct Nic. Gardening 101 is that you are always supposed to prune plants regularly, and cut them back dramatically during the winter, or else they will stop blooming. And if you don't prune bushes you'll be very sorry in the future when it gets so big that you do have to prune them, and they are just too out of control to prune.

I am not against cutting them back and pruning them in the winter. It's in the spring time when the trees are all filled with leaves and the empty open spaces just make the garden beds look bare.

If you look at Splashus Maximus, those are the same bushes or shrubs planted there and those were put in the year before or even before that and that area still looks bare and empty.

They can't put too many plants close together, there's going to be empty spaces in between the flowers. The only way you could fix that is if you replaced all the flower beds with bushes and shrubs, which would mean you'd have to sacrifice flowers. Ground cover flowers(i.e. Petunias) aren't planted until the summer-time. Truthfully I like the way the flower-beds look right now, I think it looks neat, organized, and controlled. Remember we want flower beds, not the Black Forest.:p

And when we want the Black Forest, we get- that's right- nothing. :p

Here are pictures for support. This is what I am taking about, garden beds that look filled and full and beautiful.

These ones are okay. They aren't as full and amazing as they can be.

This though is just terrible. Absolutely empty looking, with wide open spaces.

Also note it appears Da Vinci's Gardens and that Italy area has gotten new garden beds, some are still empty but it looks as though they are putting in the summer-time flowers now.

This statement was bothering me a little. PR, I feel your being a little too rash, I get your personal preferences on what a garden should look like in your book, but sometimes it can't be the way you want it. Those plants in the two pictures above are groundcover plants. In case you don't know what that means, groundcover plants, when you give them TIME to grow, will eventually disperse out, and cover most, if not all of the ground. Growing gardens does not provide instant results, you have to give it time, so I'm asking you to give it time, and you'll see. Thanks.

I present to you the effects on pansies after a couple days of heat:

Unsightly? Yes I know, but the park hasn't been working too much on replacing the dead spring flowers so far. I was expecting them to have a lot more done by now. So far the big beds beside Pompeii have been replaced, as seen in these pictures:

Along with a few other beds, and various pots all over the parks have made the transition over to their summer flowers:

This one seems half done, but I like the spilling bucket effect, don't you?

These shrubs have recently been planted.

These have replaced that God awful snail from the Bunny Trail.

This was a bed of pansies a week or two ago, but I like their replacement, in the summer these will provide big vibrant blooms, all the time.

As I said earlier, various pots like these have been replaced with summer flowers.

By the way, soon these:

Matthew how dare you misquote me! That comment was not referring to those pictures and you should very well know that!

Furthermore, I don't want to hear anything about sometimes things can't be the way I want it. There is a lot that can't be the way you want it and yet you still have every right to argue about it; however, when I point out something that bothers me, explain myself and not try to cause a fight I suddenly get thrown under the bus! This is outrageous!

You didn't really make it clear what text went with which pictures PR- it confused me a bit as well. Thanks for clarifying though- that's all that needs to be done.

I didn't get to post on this when it was more relevant as I've been on vacation, but I was able to visit the park a couple weeks ago and the tulips were magnificent. A bit excessive as they were all over the place, but very pretty nonetheless.

Whoa, chill out, I made a mistake, and your captions were really confusing as to what pictures they were aimed toward. I apologize. Either way, those bushes you were referring to are also the same case.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But to claim you've never done the same to me, is the real outrageous thing with this post. PM me any further thoughts you may have.

Anyways, back on topic!

For what it is worth, I thought the park looked very pretty today. There were flowers everywhere, and things seem to be spreading out to cover the ground.

The park has done some more work on rotating the plants over last week, focusing on the Italian and French hamlets. Instead of taking up a quarter of a page with pictures, just "click to view" to see the pictures.

As a landscape architecture student (who just finished his entire plant curriculum - Praise God) I was about to jump in, then s*** got real. I'll just stand back and let Mother Nature do her thing - cause the Grounds Department can't control every plant culture aspect that we so want it to. Just thought ya'll should know that small detail.

Oh and Matthew, great update. The Garden of Invention parterres look fantastic.
