The Evolution of Shrubbery at BGW Part 4:
San Marco
Ah, yes, San Marco. A hamlet known for details and beauty, along with stellar displays of Shrubbery. It's no doubt that The Shrubbery in this hamlet is surely breathtaking. Seamlessly integrated into the theming of the hamlet, it seems as if there is no better place in the park where Shrubbery and theming just fit together so well. San Marco is a fairly large hamlet, starting all the way at Escape from Pompeii, continuing on through Leonardo Da Vinci's
Garden of Inventions, and finally ending at the San Marco-Oktoberfest bridge. Along the way there are many chances to admire the beauty of Shrubbery.
Let's start all the way at the Entrance of Escape From Pompeii. The tree in the center of this picture has been removed, but don't fret, it has been replaced. I think we should also take note that this is the same species of tree that was also removed in Festa Italia, Coincidence? Here's what the replacement tree looks like:
This is a landscape island, which today is located just across from Vesuvius Grille. It overlooks Pompeii's pool and splash down area. It sure is an amazing place to sit and watch Pompeii. Today this landscape island is very different, the shrubs and the two trees have been removed. Again, don't be discouraged, a larger tree has been planted in the center of the island and surrounding it is a flower bed. Here's what this landscape island looks like today:
Along the main pathway, there are four landscape islands like the three in this picture(there's one more that is cut off, and to the right). Each Landscape Island has a tree in them. In this picture they just have a bed of mulch surrounding them, but today they all maintain a flower bed around them. Here's what one looks like now:
This picture shows the long lost ruins of theming that used to surround Escape From Pompeii's ride flume on the turnaround. As we all should know, this theming was taken out in place for a sundial, that holds up a Santa Claus during Christmas Town. This sparked hot controversy over the change on these forums. However, along with the sundial came a lot of interesting shrubbery designs and patterns. The area went from having five trees total, to having 19 evergreens, and the sundial has 3 'paths' of shrubbery around it, with grass type plants in the middle, and trimmed shrubs on the side. Here's what one of the 'paths' looks like:
I think we all know what has changed here too, but just in case, this is the new site for the Bad Boy Mowers advertisement. In result the two trees were removed. Just in case you haven't seen it, here's what the advertisement looks like:
Do you see the pine tree in this picture, that's growing in a very funky way? Well, it has been removed, but no need to worry, it has been replaced too. Here's what its replacement looks like:
This area of shrubbery is on the side of the path going into Leonardo Da Vinci's Garden of Inventions. The plants in this picture were removed in place for a different type of Shrub, and two small flower beds. Here's what this area looks like today:
These trees are on San Marco's main pathway, and are across from the Grape Stomping Photo op(when it's up). Here you see them with small bushes scattered about around them. Those bushes have been removed in favor for flower pots that were put into the ground between each tree. Here's what the current set up looks like:
Finally, we have this tiny flower bed. Frankly, today it has been removed and filled in with rocks, even though the bush beside it is still present. A picture of what it is today:
I hope you enjoyed part 4! Part 5 will be out soon!
