It cant be worth as much as you are thinking. Its sister 'King Cobra' built 2 years earlier at KI was very similar in size and shape with a price tag of 3 million. I'm guessing it isn't worth very much more than the deconstruction cost. That would still be a nice savings though.

RE: Shockwave to Close Forever on August 9th

That post literally made me throw up. Shockwave was iconic in the same way that Auschwitz was; nobody should be mourning it. Take off the nostalgia goggles and remember every time you walked past it to ride something else.

RE: Shockwave to Close Forever on August 9th

I went 3 times in July to give Shockwave a farewell ride and never ended up getting on it. I just reminded myself that I rode it twice in June.

They (KD) should probably remove shockwave from the thrill rides page. Just sayin

It's only been a week and I'm sure their IT/Web department doesn't patrol the park figuring out what to update on the site. In fact, I'd wager their webmaster is probably off-site and/or contracted to a third party.

I thought web content for all the Cedar Fair parks was controlled in Sandusky, OH (corporate headquarters). I believe the Fun TV content is centrally controlled as well. I don't think the individual parks have direct control of either.

While I am not sure how much (if any) input the individual parks have to their sites, I would note that I have found several inconsistencies among them. Information is filed in different locations, and the types of content vary a bit, as well.

It almost seems as if they have a common template, but provide their own information.

I know it has only been 4 days, but has anyone by chance been by the park to check out the status of Shockwave? I'm sure if anything they have a trashcan out front (maybe a sign), and train removal may have begun? It should be interesting to see the pace of the removal and how they keep the area somewhat atheistically pleasing.

I'm making the long trip to the park sometime this weekend for my final trip before the best time of the year... Haunt!

Looks like Kings Dominion has put Shockwave up for sale. It is listed as a headline product on Ital International, a used rides selling organization. If anyone has the money, they can go ahead and purchase it here. :p

It was no secret that Shockwave could be sold, but seeing it up for sale on that website is kind of jarring.

Didn't an interview with park executives state that there were other parties that had made offers on the ride? Why would they advertise here if offers have been made? They probably should have just taken whatever was offered to begin with on an old ride like this, instead of posting here in the attempt to get more for the ride.

I think park manager Pat Jones stated there were a couple parties interested in Shockwave. I don't know if that means anyone actually made a monetary offer for it. Maybe the park is using the used ride web site as a broker to sell it for them. It could be KD told the interested parties to call the broker if they actually want to buy the coaster. ... Shrug

Um...I'm confused. They are a business. Why wouldn't they try to get as much for Shockwave as they could. The more money they make, the more they have to invest into KD. Besides: profit motive.

Unless advertising it significantly increases the amount of time it spends standing there closed, I don't see the problem. And honestly, it is so hidden behind Bad Apple, I personally rarely notice it, unless I am on the path directly next to its entrance.

Is it possible that the park would leave it sitting there so a potential buyer could see it in person? I think that was the reason BG left Drachen Fire SBNO for so long. Unless KD wants to use that area immediately, they might do that. Thoughts?
