RE: Survey Soliciting Interest in the Creation of Sesame Place Williamsburg

Ok, as for the parking garage thing, since this an area of expertise for me:
The price thing sometimes gets extremely blown out of proportion. The higher the number of levels the higher the price. The technology that goes into it. The type of construction it is matter too.

For example I saw someone reference the Disney structure. That’s a 5 story parking garage built over a multi lane entry toll plaza. Needing something big and strong enough to keep a gap that big with all that weight supported is going to cost a whole lot more.

A 2 level (ground floor and 1 above) would cost a bit more than a normal lot, but JCC rules is also going to make them have a minimum number of handicap and total number of spots to accommodate “at capacity” for both parks.

So clearly they are going to have to do something. I find it hard pressed for them to find space for another lot, so going up might be the only solution to it.

As a parent of 2 young boys i love this idea. I wish i had gotten this survey. I wonder what the timeframe would be for this project? I hope this happens!

Parking is the only concern i have.

The survey said "If built, what's the likelihood of you visiting within next 12 months" as well as "next 3 years". I don't see this being built to visit within 12 months, but maybe? Just running power and plumbing to where buildings would be would take 30 days, I would imagine. Putting in buildings for dining, grab-food stands, moving rides into place (flats move easily), decorations, fancy cobblestone-esque concrete for The Neighborhood, LOTS of trash cans (for Oscar the Grouch - oh, GREAT scare zone idea!!! BANG-"Hi kids!!!!"), etc... MAYBE they could be open in time for Christmas Town? But hearings for zoning and such would take three months, plus permits... Others here are much more verse in that. Say if it goes through soon you would be able to visit in 2020 for sure. Maybe. :)

I have a 3 year old she i think she would love it. but i want her to know BGW as i know it. I don't think she needs something bigger to the detriment of possibly missing out on other things around the park. I mean yes FOF is great as it is and the new addition could be awesome but i like things as they are. There are kiddie rides in other places in the park, that she can ride as well.

i would be curious what the garage near merchants square cost. that seems like a good analog. assuming you are not trying to build up the whole lot.

Nope. Based on what I think a half a lot one story high for the two close lots and a 3 story lot in Bavaria.

I actually think I got a companion questionarre to this one today. They were asking about age, location, marital status, kids, and how soon in the future that might be. The end said “Thank you for participating in this future park expansion questionarre”.

If it will make the main park less crowded, that’s cool. If it means more crowds, no good. And if they take away the Premier benefit for the England parking lot or make it so crowded it’s impossible to park there, I would be very very unhappy.

Thats my fear, they will continue to offer preferred parking (when available) for premier but reduce the number of spaces to where it runs out quickly every day. Also I think that like others have said about them making a kids halloween event in Sesame Park that it would allow for a better and kid free experience for Howl O Scream. I personally think it will have quite the opposite effect and parents will go there earlier in the day then after 6 when HOS starts walk next door to BGW.

WDWRLD; other than crowd size what’s the downside to parents spending a daytime HOS at SP, and evening HOS in BGW? That’s a huge amount more income for BGW and SEAS to reinvest in the park.

The only “downside” I see is how to handle the parking, and there’s quite a few things they could go to.

Outside of garages:
Premier parking in England, Preffered in Germany, Passholders in Italy, Ireland for daily parking. Go across the street as needed. Or put it out there as reduced price parking to encourage people to go there.

I was talking to my wife about this and the water section of that Sesame Place may be a major clusterf*ck. I can see unknowing people getting the additional pass to Sesame Place thinking “oh a water park” and then you have a whole water section of adults and unruly teenage kids horse playing in the ankle high wave pool and monopolizing the lazy river and water slide.

We are currently working on a second article looking at the reasons for and the implications of this proposal. Hopefully, it will be posted this evening.
