Disney I think is defiantly looking to expand onto the west coast beyond Disneyland. But I doubt this will ever happen. Not unless SWPO changes there mind and sells the parks separately.

I heard this same rumor during the InBev sale.

It was a fanboi pipedream rumour. No discussion in Burbank halls.

Yes but nope. Within land currently owned. No time soon.

(2/22/13) While Blackstone is being courted by various groups for a possible sale of the SeaWorld Entertainment parks, Blackstone is apparently favoring going ahead with the initial plan to take the company public with an IPO at the moment. Or in other words... the interested potential buyers just haven’t floated a number with enough zeros at the end to raise Blackstone’s eyebrow yet. Initial reports were that Apollo and Six Flags were interested, and according to Bloomberg, Apollo and another group named Onex Corp. apparently did enter bids so far, while a team from Garlyle Group and Advent International Corp were interested, but have yet to make an offer.

I fear that a publicly traded creative property can be a disaster. As a private enterprise, there's a bit of a balancing act between what the owner sees as a creative vision and profitability. Once share-holders get involved, it can be a simple matter of taking creative vision off of the scales entirely.

I don't know. We'll see, I guess. Maybe we'll get a situation where the only people buying shares are diehards and they keep the thing in check. I doubt it, though.

Thank god, If six flags bought the parks I would not be a happy camper....

Same here I think we are fine where we are. Blackstone is a really good company, and knows how to handle their money, which could pay off for us in the long run. Especially with our income for 2012. Hint: More roller coasters and projects!:)

Yes there is a delicate balance there. No other example is more perfect than comparing WDW and USF.

Well I never said that I didn't like Blackstone, I just said that I wish that Busch still owned it. Now that it is clear that Busch will never own us again, I'm fine with Blackstone.

It wasn't apparent when AB SOLD the parks?

Ugh!:dodgy: Do I really have to explain this? I never had hope that Busch would ever buy us back. I meant to say that: Busch sold us, and we are never going to get bought back.:dodgy:

Bloomberg is reporting that Blackstone has boosted the placeholder amount of the IPO up to $500 million. Full story: Link

With the bidding war that was happening behind the scenes I could see Blackstone fetch much more than $500mill, but that's just me.

Having it too high could cause an instantaneous drop at WS debut. I want to hear the number of shares that will be offered.
