RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

Depends who would end up owning BGW.

At this point, I think anyone would be better than SEAS. I had a lot of hope from the start, but I think the current board/management has proven they can't handle all this. Hopefully they can manage to not screw up a sale.

RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

If Comcast is in talks to buy the parks, you can bet that they would probably hold on to All the sea world parks, minus Texas and both the Busch parks, and probably Aquatica too.

It'd be an instant slam dunk for them. They'd essentially rule Orlando. If they realistically want to compete with Disney, owning all the major players in Florida is the move they need to make. I think the only parks they wouldn't be interested in keeping are Sea World San Antonio and anything else not Busch or Seas Branded.

BGW wouldnt become a Universal studios branded park I believe, but they could certainly do something with it. Upgraded hamlets would be great for shooting films and video and it can certainly work in their favor.

If I were they, I'd keep Aquatica and ditch Wet 'n Wild.

RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

Do you think they would keep WCUSA and Adventure Island too?

RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

Well whoever buys BG could choose to not buy the waterpark along with them.

RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

Universal buying all the parks would make the most sense. Why dump just one seaworld? Seems like it would diminish the brand having one be separate. Also i would love to see what universal could do to BGW and water country.

IOA and USO are fantastic parks and brilliantly themed. Diagon Alley is the single best park "hamlet" I've ever visited.

Also I don't want any owner that won't sell beer. It's just not right. Still better than six flags though.

Harry Potter lives in England, so image this: Harry Rocks! There would be glitter flying out of wands left and right!!

Landscaping is great at Universal parks. They actually use shrubbery to enhance the theme of their areas, like crooked trees in Seuss Landing or prehistoric looking plants in Jurassic Park.

Honestly, I have gone in street view in Universal, I'd prefer Herschend 1000000000000000x times over universal.

EDIT: Universal maybe aint so bad. But still prefer Herschend.

While I mildly understand where you're coming from, as Herschend would be a better fit in regards to the "old country" days of BGW we all love. I'm starting to look at it from a cash flow side of things. Uni/Comcast has TONS of cash flow, and they are not afraid to use it. It's also not that they will just blow money, it's that they use all this money wisely. The new Harry Potter additions are some of the best i've ever seen at a theme park. The level of detail is just insane. I'm not even a Harry Potter fan and I want to go just for the experience.

How's the shrubbery?

I'm not a vegetation expert...

You don't have to be one, I was just wondering if there is and abundance of flowers and Trees. Anyways, thanks Joe.

I was just at Uni and Diagon Alley was completely mind blowing. The Hogwarts Express is also the coolest transport ride ever. I want to do a trip report, when I have a few spare minutes. Gringotts, sadly, isn't as good at Forbidden Journey.

Everyone must visit USO and IOA.

Matthew: I was kidding. Sadly, I was so busy being immersed, I honestly didn't pay that much attention to the landscaping. I think I only focus on those details, after I've visited a park several times in one year. I only get t Uni 1-2 times a year.

Actually, for shrubbery, the best park in Florida is LEGOLAND. Cypress Gardens is amazing and has an incredible banyan tree.

So...everyone must go to Uni and LEGOLAND.

Shrubbery isn't exactly thematically appropriate in Diagon Alley. :p

Across the rest of USO and IOA though, fabulous. I've been saying for ages that both USO and IOA are far more beautiful than BGW. I stand by that 100x.

For what it's worth, I almost feel it's just simple fact that Diagon Alley is the best themed area of any park in the country (if not the world). It's truly unlike anything I've ever seen before.

RE: Rumor - SEAS Parks Broken Up and Sold Off

I may have given my thoughts on Herschend earlier but I would much rather Comcast keep BGW than Herschend own it. They have the ability to infuse cash. If Herschend ran the park I really don't see them changing anything, or even reversing changes that current management made, more like running it like it was run before. I do think we would see the Entertainment Dept totally revamped.

I merely was providing a point by point opinion on the BTT article. Which brings me to ask, what would you all do with the other parks. We all have opinions on BGW, but this would effect all the parks far and wide.
