Looks great! It may have taken them a while, but I’m so glad it’s back. That banner hasn’t looked that good in ages.

I’m also happy they kept the sign exactly the same as it always was. Part of me was worried they’d put up a sign that just said “Italy,” so I’m really glad they stuck with the actual hamlet name San Marco.

Not sure where to put this so I’m putting it here.
THE GELATO STAND IS OPEN!
I REPEAT THE GELATO STAND IS OPEN!!

looks to me like about 75% of the deck not done last year has been removed. That is a pretty decent pace but my understanding is there is substantial other work to be done before redecking can begin.

Here is a view of the bridge from the Rhine river dock. They are also resurfacing Il teatro di San Marco's stage.

Speaking of the bridge work. It looks to me like they have replaced or at least done significant work on a small section of the steel cross beams. Assuming the pace from last week to this week is a reasonable indicator I would guess that there is 4-5 weeks of steel work to be done the concrete work on top of that so I would assume we are still in for a long closer.

The repairs will be slowed due to daily operations starting this week. Crowd activity will interfere with access. I just don't see them making any good progress with Marco Polo open. If they close Marco Polo, then the contractor will be able to access the construction zone without pedestrian interference.

My point was more to the fact that they'll need to bring in concrete and surfacing materials. I don't think that path is wide enough to support a Georgia buggy much less a concrete truck. They need a much wider path on ingress to get to the bridge.

Air lifting is an option.

With the odd pathway on the San Marco side of the bridge plus lots of side-shuffling to get from the access roads to the bridge, and there's relatively easily accessible access roads on the Germany side, I'd think they'd have an easier time by coming from that direction anyways?
