I asked Carl yesterday if they are keeping the windows where you can watch people cook everything. He said yes they are keeping them.

So I can be like:

And they are like:

I genuinely hate Pusheen - but this made me laugh out loud in public.

RE: Ristorante Della Piazza & San Marco Restrooms Renovations

I'm not sure if it's best to post this here or not, but here goes:

At Christmastown we tried one of the paninis offered in the tents in front of the Ristorante. The chicken pesto panini. It was really good! Basically chicken cutlet with melty gooey cheese, and a pesto spread on the bread. They serve marinara on the side to dip it in. It tasted like the standard spaghetti sauce they offered before. But the panini itself was simple and delicious, and I really hope that is offered on the new menu. That's definitely something I would order during the summer season.

Well i am for one interested and excited for the new renovations just as long as its not a radical change in either design or quality of the product.

Not to be contrarian,
The product, in this case the, "food," (I use the term lightly) could use great improvement. In my opinion, the Italian "food," is at best horrible and at worst inedible.

This past summer some members of my family and I decided that we should test our on going premise about the food at Ristorante and basically ordered one of everything. What I remember was that the pasta was way over cooked, the marinara sauce was so sweet I thought I was going to have a diabetic fit, and several of the other items were frankly inedible. (the Cannelloni comes to mind)

Don't get me started on the crap they call pizza in Festa.

Official name: Marco Polo's Marketplace

Not gonna lie, I sorta think the name sounds nauseatingly generic and it really highlights the fact that the restaurant belongs in Festa Italia instead of San Marco.

RE: Marco Polo's Marketplace Coming in 2016

The name itself isn't great, but it's pretty much in the same format as the rest of the park restaurant names(Trapper's Smokehouse, Grogan's Grill, Squire's Grill). That format, although it may not be as authentic, is better than the other restaurant names that try to be authentic, but end up being nonsensical, such as La Cucina which just means "kitchen," Ristorante Della Piazza just means "Restaurant of the Plaza," and Festhaus is just a play on words. I don't mean to defend the name, I definitely think it could be better, but it's not like it's dramatically worse than the current restaurant names in the park.

RE: Marco Polo's Marketplace Coming in 2016

I don't mind the generic name as much as I dislike the flow of it. "Marco Polo's Marketplace" feels like a very forced play on words, and it's awkward to say. I don't know. It just feels wrong to the tongue.

The name definitely reinforces my feelings that the restaurant's theme does not belong in San Marco, but in the hamlet next door (which is actually themed to Marco Polo and his travels.)

RE: Marco Polo's Marketplace Coming in 2016

You know what now that i think about since they renamed the area they should of called it Da Vinci's Marketplace due to the Da Vinci inspired rides right around the corner.

RE: Marco Polo's Marketplace Coming in 2016

^I believe the Marco Polo name/theme is meant to tie in the international cuisine that the new restaurant will serve. It does sort of make sense, given that Marco Polo's travels give the park a perfect thematic excuse to sell non-European foods (like Oriental).

Sadly, Marco Polo really belongs in Festa Italia (which was designed as a celebration of Marco Polo's travels), not the Classical-Italy inspired San Marco.

Hence my earlier statement, though if they wanted to tie in an international cuisine they could of used the name of a classical figure or another explorer, Italy has several well known explorers.

RE: Marco Polo's Marketplace Coming in 2016

Are we really going to debate the name of the restaurant when for years we were literally called Europe and had a North American country in the park?
