Earlier this week Joe and I found utility markings, where all types of colored dots could be found around the general area of It Teatro di San Marco. They seemed to start in front of the Artisans of Italy and Bella Casa shops. They then went to a center plaza outside of the Theatre, near Gelato di San Marco, and then continued on in front of Ristorante Della Piazza and ended around the San Marco bathrooms. Here is a Google Earth satellite image with the area where utility markings could be found outlined:

Now you ask, why are we pointing this out, and more or less making a big deal of it? Well, the last time we saw all available(different colored dots) utilities marked on the pathways was in Festa Italia, and that ended up being for Tempesto. So, while this may not be that big of a project, it does seem that the park has something planned for this area.

Here are some pictures of the utility markings that can currently be found around Il Teatro di San Marco, brought to you by Busch Dominion:

With that out of the way, let the speculation begin.

RE: Utility Markings Spotted Around Il Teatro di San Marco

From what I've heard from a few people higher up on the ladder is, Carl likes wing-riders, they wants this new coaster to interact with the Rhine, and that Festa and Italy are the new points of focus for the park for the next few years. Take this with a grain of salt, even I doubt this myself, but then I realized something. Every five years or so the park adds a major coaster to the line-up, or at least that's been the case for the last couple of years. 2007-Griffon 2012-Verbolten 2017-??? I know what your thinking "Wait, but isn't Tempesto a major coaster?" Some might say it is but most of the management does not consider it a major coaster. Mark Pauls, VP of Operations, even said an interview with BG Cabana "this is not a major coaster." So if this five year plan is still in play 2017 should be a big year. Now I know many people are going to say that I'm just speculating and technically I am, but remember when I speculated about Mako? ;-P Also, as bgbackdoor stated, these markings have nothing to do with a new coaster, solely utility work. Though some words of advice are, keep your eyes peeled.

I'm sure it's not a ride. But I "believe" it's going to be renovations...and hopefully a much needed redo of the bathrooms. If you're reading this Busch Gardens make sure you use the same people that did the Das Festhaus bathrooms.

If you are reading this BGW, the bathrooms are perfectly adequate. Don't waste what little money you have on them.

Well that should be a straight forwarded repair. No need for a full reno.

100% fan speculation but for 2016 I see a renovation for Italy and then a major attraction like a Wingrider in 2017 just like the two year Oktoberfest plan. I say this as Italy hasn't been touched since they added Da Vinci's Cradle in the mid 80's so it's due for some love. Guess we'll have to wait t'ill September 12 to see if anything major is happening.

does a new restaurant mean a new menu and new bathrooms?

I wonder if they might be considering getting a retractable roof in Il Teatro di San Marco. Provided it's not an eye sore, it could be very useful, especially during Christmas Town. I love the open air feel of that theater, so I wouldn't want them to just enclose it.
