RE: Renovations coming to Ristorante Della Piazza and San Marco Restrooms in 2016

The description for the Ristorante Della Piazza renovations have been updated on the JCC site. It seems that it is definitely going to be very different after these renovations:

James City County said:
COMPLETE RENOVATION OF THE ITALY RESTAURANT AT BUSCH GARDENS TO REMOVE ALL CAFETERIA LINES, REPLACE WITH MARKET STYLE COUNTER SERVICE, NEW BAR, NEW PAVILLION IN PLAZA, NEW EQUIPMENT, NEW HVAC, ETC
Also the estimated value for the renovations to the restaurant is approx. $900,000 for what it is worth.

Also the permit for the Restroom renovations has officially been filed, the description can be found below:

Estimated value is approx. $400,000 which is actually slightly larger than the recent Festhaus restroom renovations which were around $20,000 less.

San Marco will be experiencing quite a bit of updates this off season...

Also, thread title has been updated to better reflect the information we have discovered.

I'm sure it's not a ride. But I "believe" it's going to be renovations...and hopefully a much needed redo of the bathrooms. If you're reading this Busch Gardens make sure you use the same people that did the Das Festhaus bathrooms.

Oh I'm sure something more than that is happening....
Yay I was right!

I'm just looking forward to some hot water in that restroom. Hopefully their nearly half a million renovation will include a $300 water heater.

This sounds very similar to what they did at Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando.

Both restaurants (Dragonfire Grille & Expedition Café) have an open concept & rid the need of the traditional cafeteria lines. Even though this "Ristorante Della Piazza" will most likely not offer different cuisines, it certainly has become popular among the SWP&E chain.

Anything that involves an upgrade grabs my interest & attention, so I'll keep my eye on updates in this thread.

Last time I didn't watermark the whole thing and low and behold, it was cropped and reposted without credit within hours. Wish I didn't have to tramp stamp the whole thing, but unfortunately ethics aren't a strong-point on the internet.

RE: Ristorante Della Piazza & San Marco Restrooms Renovations

Im confused. When someone a while back stated that the restaurant was expanding I thought they were actually adding to the structure, like in air conditioned square footage. This shows eight steel poles supporting a roof. No new walls other than what look like two very small walls near the existing entrance. So this would be open air.

Sounds nice, and I like the idea of covering patrons while they walk to the theater, but I really don't understand the need. That aside, if it is themed well I'm sure it will liven up the area - lighting at night would also be a nice touch as that area becomes kind of dreary.

RE: Ristorante Della Piazza & San Marco Restrooms Renovations

The permit description that I posted a while back said, "New Pavillion in Plaza." I think before the permit description was released someone said vaguely about it somehow being expanded to the theatre. However I found it implausible because if they extended the entire building to the theatre it would end up blocking the soon to be, freshly renovated restrooms.

Well, anyways, here is everything I've gotten out of the site plan posted above. As already stated a new open air pavillion of some sort will be constructed from what seems to be the end of the restaurant's current external overhang, to the theatre. There will now be only one entrance(compared to the clusterfuck currently where there are several openings which are both entrances and exits), which seems to be going on the side of the building nearest the main pathway.

And on the opposite side of the building(closer to the restrooms) will be what I am assuming is the exit. I don't know how they plan on closing up the current openings of the building, but I do know there is only two openings on the site plan above.

Registers seem to be going outside the building now. From my observations, they will go just beyond where the current overhang for the building ends. I guess that will free up a lot of space inside the building for the renovations.

Lots of regrading of the ground/concrete will occur, along with new drainage grates and storm drains. I guess this will be in effort to help prevent the flooding of some of the buildings in the area which was reported in this thread before.

In the area that is covered where you enter the restrooms, it seems that a small back portion will be turned into some type of room(s). Although I'm not exactly sure what is planned, I do see a new wall and two new doors. Perhaps new "nursing stations?"

For those of you worried about the windows, according to these plans nothing is planned new for that side of the building, or at least, not right now.
