We are all entitled to our opinions, no matter how incorrect they may be.
Wait in line for this ride once on a semi-busy day and you'll see how correct I am. It's incredibly popular and every GP loves it. Again, the enthusiast mindset may think it's not as good because it's not as thrilling as the others or not as well themed as Pompeii but it gets you soaked and it's good plain fun which is exactly what it's meant to be. And it has plenty of theming. It's a good ride by almost all standards. It doesn't have great uptime tbf but on all other counts it is objectively a good ride

I hate talking to the GP.
Oh, believe me. I'm as thoosie (at least for BGW, but in general) as they come. I just know what the vast majority of guests like. Tell most anyone who comes to the park in summer that Roman Rapids sucks and should close forever and watch them laugh in your face. And whenever my friends (I'm in high school, so at least teens like it) discuss going to the park in summer, Roman Rapids is VERY often in the discussion. It's a popular ride because it's good. It wouldn't be popular, and it wouldn't still be around with all the issues it has, if it wasn't good

Again. If you've done multiple rapids rides and it's worse than others, great. But that doesn't change the fact that by nature of it being a rapids ride it's a good ride. The layout may be bland (COMPARED TO OTHERS) and the theming is minimal (COMPARED TO OTHERS, it's better than any other ride in Festa), and yes, you're absolutely right it's barely functional. But again.
It is objectively a good ride. Not great, not as good as other rapids rides. But it is a good ride. Stop acting so entitled. Either way. This whole convo will probably get moved to pointless discussions by morning, and it's midnight I gotta go to bed, I respect your opinion regardless of how objectively wrong or right it may be. Sorry for coming off a bit aggressive, I'm tired. 🤝

The layout of Roman Rapids is just so uninspired. It’s essentially just a triangle, with minimal interesting variations along the way — pretty critical for a rapids ride when half the fun is how the raft reacts to the unpredictable water flow. The last third is a literally straightaway down a concrete ditch with waterfalls that have had varying degrees of functionality over the years.

There are some things I like. Roman Rapids has one of my favorite attraction signs in the park (I love that it’s a water feature too). The very beginning of the ride through the more manicured gardens and past statues is pretty. The waterfall with the statue in it (by La Cucina) would make a beautiful water feature even without the ride attached. And the themed soundtrack they sometimes play along the ride is a lovely touch.

But ride-wise, yeah, AB dropped the ball with this one.

I have not been to BGW since about 2017. I remember that I used to enjoy this ride. I am not sure if I am misremembering or not. But I seem to recall that this ride had a nice waterfall feature towards the end of the ride that would be where you had the best chance to get wet. At one point, this waterfall feature stopped working. I seem to recall they left it not working for a while. Then, instead of fixing it, they installed white PVC pipes above the wall to spray water out. Seemed very cheap to me. May as well have just added a garden hose with a sprayer. I believe it was around this time that I stopped riding/enjoying Roman Rapids. If I am remembering this correctly, I would be curious if they ever went back and fixed the waterfall/wall properly or if it is still just the white PVC pipes above the wall.

As of last year, still a visible white pvc pipe.
