It’s the little things like this that give me hope for the park long term. Doesn’t matter how many rides they add (or remove) if there’s no upkeep for what already exists, even if what already exists is a decrepit chunk of a coaster that’s been gone for over a decade.

This was the coaster that gave me my love of coasters. Even though I’d obviously still rather have it around, IBOX conversion or not, being able to still see some part of it is more than most can say about their defunct favorites and I count myself lucky on that (as well as the GASM loop top in the Safari).

Maybe there's still some post mortem regret there felt by the fulltime staff. Their thoughts are "what have we done? We must save all that we have left of it!".

It’s incredible to me that some (not that post) are actually acting in all seriousness that this was repainted OVER Nitro. This was probably a result of “hey, we have some extra white paint and some ladders laying around, let’s take care of something former management left to rot” and was likely done in a couple weekdays, versus Nitro being a more long term project that requires them to purchase exponentially more paint, rent equipment, etc.

Obviously now would be the ideal time to do Nitro with it being down (longest downtime it’s ever had if I’m not mistaken?), but they certainly didn’t plan on it being down and presumably didn’t have the budget for it at the drop of a dime.

Agreed. Nitro would also 99.9% not be an in-house repainting project, which would mean contracting Baynum or some other tall-thing-painting-company, which would undoubtedly increase the cost as well. These companies are also known to have a years-long wait list.
