Last time I remember RT being closed for a prolonged period of time was when the one train disconnected its cars and valleyed in two different spots. I have no clue why it's closed this time but I'll ask around.

(7/14/13) Rumor has it that the sudden closure of Rolling Thunder may have something to do with a section of wood rot discovered on the ride that is in need of repair. I’m told that the ride might have been closed for the past 2-3 weeks now while they try to address the problem.

Lines up with what I heard.

Got good news and bad news.

Good News: Got a text from a friend saying Rolling Thunder reopened the left side today. It's rare both sides are run but it's good one side is open.

Bad News: Ad wrapping.

May not be common or identifiable enough to be brick-worthy, but I recall multiple operators trying to prompt a "Yee-haw" from Rolling Thunder riders after the all-clear signal during the final few years of its operation (you can hear dispatchers say it in some of the POV videos posted on YouTube as well).
