I didn't see any roller coaster tours listed on the bgw website this week.  Anyone know when they post them?

The BGW site is notoriously lackluster in general. That said, it seems like every year it gets stripped down during the off season. They are probably still planning tours and everything else right now.

And, in general, they are probably still setting prices for things, including the tours and also the meal deals, and QQ.

Is the Coaster Tour confirmed for 2016 or is there a possibility they've done away with it? Been wanting to do it since I first heard about it YEARS ago. This year would be the first time I'm actually able to get my stuff together and go.

There doesn't seem to be info about any of tours right now, except the Elit VIP tour. I imagine they have been very busy with all of the major staff changes. Hopefully the site will be fully updated soon.

I'm finally doing this tour Wednesday the 23rd. YAY!! (been trying to do this for years) I'm bringing my dad for his birthday present. He's a bit larger and usually has to sit in the middle seats with the double seat belts on griffon and alp. This won't prohibit him from taking the trolley to the top of griffon, right? I called the park and they had no idea...

I wouldn't think so. We had a good sized fellow in another family on our tour. See if these give you an idea. Also, check the above video at about 15:40.

Edit: Size of guy on tour in the last photo, blurred to protect the innocent. ;)

I was taking a look on the website as i’ve been trying to do this tour for three years now. They don’t have any of the exclusive tours on the website I assume that they will put them up at a later date but I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything.

They have posted on the website information about the tour they now have three tours, The Participant Tour, Observer Tour, and Mini Tour.
PARTICIPANTS (MUST BE ages 14+): Behind-the-scenes, special ride time, photo CD, Preferred Parking plus Griffon lift experience($75 USD)

OBSERVERS (ages 6+): Behind-the-scenes, special ride time, photo CD and Preferred Parking($50 USD)

MINI-TOUR (ages 6+): Special condensed version includes behind-the-scenes and special ride time at Loch Ness Monster, Griffon and Verbolten only($30 USD)

I like the fact that the tours now include free preferred parking for those who don't already have the perk.

So, I have to ask - now that Pantheon is open, is it included on the tour? I went on this tour a few years ago (pre-Invadr) and would highly recommend it. At the time they had an option to add the Griffon lift experience which doesn't seem to be listed this year - Are they not doing that anymore? Maybe with all of the coasters included they decided they didn't have time for this?

Has anyone been on this tour this year?

My guess is something had to give, as this tour has to be completed before park opening, so maybe they changed things up this year and dropped the Griffon lift part of it?

When I went on the tour (I guess this was back in 2016), we didn't ride anything until the park opened at 10. At 10 the tour was at Griffon (having been through the Loch Ness and Griffon maintenance bays and the Griffon lift experience) and we hopped on that immediately and rode that before moving onto Alpengeist. Then it was onto Verbolten, Apollo's Chariot, and wrapped up at Loch Ness Monster. At that time, the tour included riding each of the coasters twice in a row and it was a blast.

Noticed on the website today, this tour is now offered on Sundays through the end of the month, on top of the usual Saturday tours.

Ya, I was bummed. I did this with my son several years ago, and now my daughter is old enough to do it.
But I can hold out hope that maybe they'll bring it back some day - here was their specific reply:

"Our rollercoaster tours this year will not include going on top of Griffon. In the unlikely event that this information changes this year, it will be reflected on the website under Roller Coaster Insider Tour."

Every time I’ve looked at that tour there seems to be something different.

That would have been the main reason for me to take the tour.
Yep. It was the centerpiece experience of the roller coaster tour for years. Unique, exciting, and worth the price. (Though for me the Loch Ness station was also a particularly cool experience. Still...)

There was a no-Griffin-top version of the tour too, for those who couldn't or wouldn't opt to ride the semi-funicular cable conveyance up the lift and futz about at the top for a while. I think they charged $40 less for that version. Something like that. I never saw anyone on the tour forego the Griffon climb, but I'm sure it happened from time to time.

Did they knock $40 off the tour price when they fully axed the Griffon lift from the experience? Should I even bother asking before drawing a conclusion?
