RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

As luck would have it last Saturday, I caught the show when I was just sitting down to eat and I thought it was good. Wasn't great like "This Is Oktoberfest", but it was MUCH better than "Entwined" (which I saw online, oh lord was that bad). Since Scott departed, I don't think this show is going to last long.

I'm curious if now that Scott is gone if "This is Oktoberfest" will possibly make a comeback of some form, or if this show will just be revamped.

I think that "This Is Oktoberfest" has a high chance of returning and hopefully with a full band this time.

We saw rotb over labor day weekend, and it was missing a significant portion of the cast, including the wife and an alpine brother.

What happened?

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

The casting for Roll Out the Barrel has been a downright nightmare this year. They started losing dancers and musicians earlier in the season which took them a while to fill, but the last two months have been a free fall. The dancers were decimated to such a point that at one showing I saw they only had one male dancer, the band was missing two people the last time I saw it, and one of the leads had been totally written out of the show because she was on and off performing until she left about 2-3 weeks before the show ended this weekend and they wrote her out of it permanently. The Alpine brothers were inconsistent, and it seemed they had hired a new one/understudy the last time I saw it.

Really, I don't know what the hell went wrong with the casting at this show, but I just think between the casting issues and continued technical problems, Roll Out the Barrel is much more trouble that it is worth and if it does return next season it will not be the same show, or at least not nearly the same caliber one.

I think it just goes to show, the Festhaus isn't a theatre and This is Oktoberfest will always be the one and only show that can work in it during the main season.

I think that might be a bit of an overstatement, always is a very long time.

I think you read too far into that. They won't keep This is Oktoberfest forever. In fact, I'm not sure if I even want them to. But This is Oktoberfest will probably be the one and only show that worked perfectly in the Festhaus during the main season, no matter how they try to change it or force their theatrical "art" crap upon it. So yes, barring radical changes to the surrounding environment, This is Oktoberfest or otherwise just the concept of that show will always be the perfect fit for the Festhaus. I have high doubts, especially in the current state of the park that they will be able to make something better and that fits the Festhaus at the same time.

My best friend was in that show....

What happened was
The lead female singer got nodes from not properly singing(not Busch castings fault)
The reason why you saw 1 male dancer was because by time you saw it every original male dancer left to go to another contract and the replacements left to do another contract and there were 2 left and 1 of the 2 hurt his ankle so he was out until the last week. I give that 1 male dancer(who is actually a tapper/tumbler) a lot of props!
As with the musicians a lot of them get sick, they are 10-12 hour days with one day off it does a number on ones body. even on braodway there is someone missing you just have to deal with it. they try to fix it as soon as they can.
As for the acrobat, this was neither his or Buschs fault mainly just sheer shitty luck, in the beginning of the show the across fly down on a zip line... each of them once per show so that happens 2 times a show 2 time 4 shows a day is 8, 8 times 350 shows equals 2800 times that the bolt that holds the zipline down is being pulled on... on day the bolt snapped and one acro feel 40 feet. you cant blame the company for that.

Any more questions?

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

^^^from my understanding

The squirrel wrecked a lot of havoc, at first the squirrel ate the sound wires to make a nest and the sound shut down for the day then about a few days later he ate through 200ft of lighting cable and during the show the lights shut down.. which caused them to do meet and greets and pissed off a lot of people i was there when that happened, but you know what they had no choice they would have lost money if no show and it was a safety hazard if the lights fell on them so they had a meet and greet it was a happy medium.. I'm sure the cast didn't want to do it because they lost hours and pay for the day but they stuck together as a team and pulled through and for that people should realize what they actually go through before making this horribly rude comments about the cast and the show. But it is freedom of speech and your opinion is your opinion so we can't fight over that.

I just want to make it clear that I was not criticizing the cast in the least. I have stated multiple times that ROTB had a fantastic cast this year, I was criticizing the park for not keeping up with the casting. It's clear the cast goes through a lot, they perform 6 days a week all day. And if I criticize the show, it's never the cast's fault, I'm rather criticizing the production, which again is a park-related issue.
