RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

You'd notice at KI, when they screw up, it's pretty drastic honestly, and sometimes quite sad.

I have seen the previous posts here on various threads, and again, I used to go to this park quite a bit. I used to make multiple yearly trips. Military service kind of stopped that for a bit, and then college post military, stuff gets hectic. Now with some free time, I venture back, and still impressed. Do I see some faults in the park and how things are done, oh yeah, the park isn't flawless. Operations at BGW are a joke. Seeing Griffon stack repeatedly and can attribute to ride ops being sluggish, yeah it's disappointing. Compare that to rides at CP that dish out hours where the rides hit capacity, yeah it's sad. B&M's should never stack, just, never. Then don't get me started on Soarin' lol.

But I think the issue is seeing people complain about good, it's a good show, you admitted it. Yeah there's been great stuff in the past, but when you're there constantly you get jaded and complacent. Like I said, trade me parks, the flaws I see at BGW are fixable and minute compared to KI where I have a list thats been piling up for years. Like reading the rumors area seeing how many people want to get rid of Pompeii. Just, it's crazy to think that many here are so critical of literally one of the best rides in it's category.

Your park destroys damn near every park in the chain. Even me being a crazed Cedar Point fanboy and have worked the park for a whole season, I even wish BGW was my home park. You have great rides, theming, shows, food, and atmosphere. It hits everything right on the head. Like I saw today some other thread someone wanted more theming in front of Verbolten even though it has the car and queue house and stuff. That ride is above and beyond in terms of theming and is almost Disney level stuff for a regional park, it's perfect. To see y'all get critical it kinda hurts to see it. Again, y'all are so lucky you can go whenever I'm envious. I'd trade all of the CP live e except for Luminosity for Roll out the Barrel. At KI you can have everything minus Cirque (not even produced in house) and I'll take that show.

Yeah it may mess the layout up and be dark to eat in, but show wise, you have almost broadway esque entertainment for a fraction of the cost and then so much more to do even after that show.

We haven't been there since the very beginning of the season. Did they fix the audio issues they were having?

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

The sound system was great for Deck the Halls. Why would they spend money they don't have to fix something that wasn't broken?

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

From my experiences, you can hear them better than you could at the beginning of the season. That is if their microphone/headset doesn't die, as I have seen multiple times, and seems to still be occurring. It seems like a big issue, because I'm having a hard time recalling a show where a mic didn't die, but they have seemingly done nothing about it.

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

Yea there does seem to be some mic issues. I too can't remember a time something didn't happen (and I watch it all the time)...but yes they handle it well.

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

Today I brought a friend to the park, and just for fun we watched Roll Out the Barrel. My friend definitely noticed my look of fury when I heard the newly updated announcement say "Recording devices of any sort are strictly prohibited." That's right. Busch Gardens is now trying to prohibit recording in the dining hall. It is not a theater. It never was a theater. It never will be a theater.

The entire policy seems extremely rude and extremist to begin with, but this actually made me mad. I guess that's what I get for asking a certain park official about it. Instead of fixing it, they tighten the rules even more.

I feel like making my own "I'm done thread" now. (Not really.)

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

I guess it's possible that they had that recording since the beginning. If they did have that recording, it's obvious that the employees did not care at all. If they did have that recording, it's obvious that the employees did not care at all. If they did care, then I should be on their "list". I don't even know what they keep those lists for, but I like to record the shows not just for myself, but for the performers. I think it is terrible that Busch Gardens Williamsburg hardly does anything in the way of giving their performers professional recordings of their performances. It's the least they could do. Tampa does it for just about all shows. I don't understand why Williamsburg can't do that, or allow others to do that for them, since they are too lazy/cheap to do it themselves.

For those of you who read the forums often, you may realize that I don't usually sound so uptight. The difference here is that I believe this is affecting the image of the park, as well as the performers, all of which put their life into their work.

I asked Carl a while back and he said he "doesn’t give a shit" lol. But I still get paranoid when I'm taking pictures…I don’t want someone coming up thinking I’m shooting a video (god forbid). Yes the actors...entertainers..etc seem to love all the recordings and pics. But I assume BG frowns upon it. I noticed there’s always/sometimes this weird awkwardness about it when I post stuff. Or run into the performers in the park. I assume they don't want to get in trouble interacting with me or I don’t know.
I wish they would sell the soundtracks and all….I would buy them.

Saw this for the first time the other day. My first thought was "Did I get dosed with LSD?", followed by "I wonder what it would be like to watch this while dosed with LSD!". The whole show was odd to me.

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

The main problem I have with this show is that there is WAAAY too much going on at some points. Yes, I realize that it is supposed to be a high energy celebration, but somehow they make it look more cluttered than anything. My other problem is, I am a huge fan of the traditional German songs, so I honestly hate it when they put in musical type songs like the slow and emotional one sung between the lead man and lead woman. (I haven't seen the show enough times to know their names or the name of the song. ) I feel like this show has potential if given better thought, but right now I think that it is "so so".

RE: Roll Out the Barrel (2015 to Present)

I quite like the show, technical gremlins aside. The singers are very talented, decent dancing, and I enjoy the original songs. If you don't take it so seriously, its much easier to enjoy. Seems intentionally goofy to me, which helps with its more broad appeal than Entwined ever could have achieved.
