So, here's something scary that came up earlier this week. What if this is going to be a family friendly RMC? There's no hard evidence for it yet, but given the recent push at KD to be much more family friendly and the previous push for BGW to do the same, what if KD wanted to continue that trend with this?

Well, considering that their last 'thrill' installation only caters to the most hardcore of thrill seekers, that just may be what we get.

When I suggested this on Reddit I A)Was called extremely offensive names, even by my standard and B) was told that Delirium was a "thrill ride", which I guess could count as a high thrill ride. But yeah, I didn't consider that their last coaster was already extremely intense.

The thought of another family ride at kings dominion makes me cringe. It's been way to long of a coaster gap from intimidator to now, I still think it won't be a total family ride because as we have seen rmc is already making it taller with larger air time hills and the lift angle increase. I've been let down to many times in the last couple years with kd doing their planet snoopy renovations playing the card, "breaking records!". It's time for another thrill seeker rollercoaster so adults to want come to the park.

You do raise a good point. Is hard to take the park seriously when they say dumb stuff like "World's Largest Snoopy Kids Area". It's like Sean Spicer runs their marketing.

This. It's going on 8 years since their last major roller coaster installation. The park is way overdue. The recent addition of Planet Snoopy targets the family demographic and they don't need another for next year. It's time for a new thrilling coaster.
It's pretty evident by the current construction that this will NOT be a family coaster. Hurler itself was never classified as a family ride and now RMC is adding height, speed and God knows what else to the structure.

Actually a mild family ride is exactly what their website billed it as as of adding the trim brake in 2010. While I loved the coaster before that, by the last year it ran I would have been happy even to see them try to make it a actual good family ride, basically the same thing but as fast as it started and smoother. Clearly everything is being taken up a few notches -- the main thing we don't know about yet is inversions and other advanced elements. (Also we don't know name, theme or any of that minor stuff.)
In some ways it may still be a sort of family friendly coaster, it won't be over 150' tall, should be smoother than RY and Grizzly, and may not go upside down. These are pluses for getting someone to ride it in the first place.
As of recently, more of the drop has been removed and at first I thought the supports under all of the missing track had been removed, which could mean an inversion, expect there's a little bit of the supports left at the bottom like a pull-out from a very steep drop.

I always find these speculative conversations interesting, especially in this case. People who think it will not be a family ride think so because KD hasn't had one in a long time and those who think it might think so for the same reason. It's given me a lot to think about. I appreciate nobody calling me extremely offensive terms or telling me to fuck off, even if the person who did so is on these forums.

Whatever is being constructed in place of Hurler will be a "family" coaster for my family being that my 3 kids including my 6 year old can ride everything in the park.

Maybe someone who understands coaster construction better than I do can answer. If they were going to put a barrel roll in the drop, would they need to remove more of the drop than they already have (would it need to start higher up), or could they plug one in right were the framework currently ends?

I really think we could be seeing a 90 degree drop along with a new height of 104 ft. The old height was 84, could they be talking about adding 20 ft to it? And with the perpendicular symbol too?
