RE: Project 2018: Rebirth of Hurler

I just pray to god that warehouse of a station gets the axe with this project.

Perhaps a re-theme to fit the midway vibe of CAG? Not just Six Flag it and slap the word "iron" in front of the name.

Personally, I want to see them fully flesh out the vague 50's theme of the former Wayne's World area into its own complete section. Bringing back the antique hot rods (which, as I understand it, are still at the park in the backstage area), repainting the pathways with crosswalks and street markings to make them look like roads, slapping up some vintage Coca-Cola ads, and perhaps a revamp of the Rock Shop are really all it would take to give the area a complete theme.

Give Hurler's "replacement" a solid 50's theme (drive in? sci-fi?) and slap up some signage throughout the area, and BOOM! - now you can market not just a new roller coaster to thrill seekers, but a brand new themed area for the entire family.

I like the idea of a "drive-in,sci-fi" theme to the area. If Hurler gets the rmc treatment, I would love to see new trains, new logo, new station, etc. By the way I have a little fun fact, Hurler opened on the same day as my birthday (April 28th).

Would this mean they start pouring concrete this soon?! Since they have the concrete pump on the truck!

RE: Project 2018: Rebirth of Hurler

You do realize the concrete truck you see is a prop for the Haunt?

^It's actually from Kidz Construction Company, which was demolished along with the rest of Kidzville in 2012.

I wonder if this means we can expect an announcement on Preview Day? That's mighty early compared to Kings Dominion's historical announcements, but then again, construction on Hurler might become visible soon... and it's not like they can pretend it doesn't exist (or call it a landscaping project) for long.

RE: Project 2018: Rebirth of Hurler

Very exciting! I doubt the park will announce anything for awhile. Work has been going on at CP for months now and they probably won't announce what's going on until at least the summer. They may announce both projects at the same time ("RMC is coming Cedar Fair parks!"). They likely don't want to distract from Cedar Fair's 2017 offerings.

I never mentioned anything about the picture because I had my doughts on it. Not sure why but I'm really sceptacle. Why would KD allow RMC to park in such a visible place? There's a rock path behind Hurler that would be quite a bit more secluded from the public eye. Something feels fishy.
Its actually pretty secluded of a spot. Yes it's visible from a puplic right of way but it's also a short more or less dead end to public right of way that you have to go looking for.

Pickles- great pictures there. I'm pretty certain the wood there is the first drop from the Hurler. I didn't even notice it when I was out there yesterday. I got video of the drop missing from the coaster. I put it up on YouTube. Don't know if I can post a direct link to my channel here, but if you search for my name you'll find it.

RE: Project 2018: Rebirth of Hurler

I embedded the video you put up on YouTube into your post. Major props for sharing! Hope you don't get in trouble for posting it, but it is splendid to see!

I posted it (with credit of course) to KDFans.com's Twitter & FB accounts too!

He should be fine. The property he is hovering over belongs to Hanover county.

Great pictures!^
It looks like they've decided to keep most of the structure which is... interesting. They seem to be moving rather fast, have markings all over the first turn. Also, they're keeping some of the trucks behind the old hypersonic station. I got some decent photos right as the sun was setting.
