I think Mack still makes them. There’s just not a high demand for them. I would love to see more of them as I think bobsleds are a very cool model that more parks should have.

Went to check the website for any mention of a bobsled coaster and didn't see anything. Would love to see a modernized/larger/longer model of a bobsled, especially when themed well, and even more so after this season's Reptilian rides.

What I did find though, was a submarine "dark ride" model that I hadn't known about. Not trying to derail this thread but it feels like this thing was made with SEAS in mind but I don't see one anywhere except Legoland parks.

My favorite is Flying Turns, but I've only ridden that and Reptilian. They ride very different from each other and are both fun in their own way. The thing Flying Turns has that Reptilian doesn't (or didn't) is that it gives the feeling that it's getting out of control and might flip even due to how it goes up and down the turns (it's not just a b-line like on Reptilian). But Reptilian is substantially faster so that's fun too. I haven't ridden it recently, and this new faster second half sounds awesome, so I really need to experience that.

From what I remember alpine is the most extreme experience, it truly feels so out of control. I got so lucky riding it bc it is notorious for being a downtime monster.

To prepare everyone, usually the MCBR trims get turned on as it's gets hotter and trains run a bit faster. Right now the temperature is inconsistent so they'll be left off. Reptilian's control system is much older so maintenance manually turns on/off the trims instead of being automatically engaged.

WHOA!!!! Look at Reptilian’s operations (as Avalanche) back in the day! Those dispatches look fast. Did the ride ever run four trains? Because with that dispatch rate, I don’t know how they could safely load and unload at that pace during three train ops. 2:18

Yes it had 4 trains. It also has 8 blocks.

Can you pull an ETR and give the breakdown?

Station, Lift, MCBR, and final brakes... What other control points are there for 8 blocks?

It's not like it's emulating Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and has pseudo blocks with random uphill e-brakes between regular control points, right?

I'm more impressed by the speed Anaconda has through the corkscrew. I had forgotten how much that thing booked through that section when it was shiny and new.

Capacity really did run that fast that year. Back then, Anaconda was still new, so that side of the park was pretty busy and it kept the Avalanche queue pretty full. As soon as a train dispatched, there was one rolling in right behind it. I also remember them having several ride-ops checking restraints as well, which really helped cycle the trains.

It goes: brake 1 (pre-lift), lift, brake 3 (MCBR), brake 4, brake 5, brake 6 (pre-transfer), transfer, and station.

Are there any diagrams for this? Maybe my memory is hazy, but I don't recall seeing so many brake runs on the ride...

I think “Brake 1” is the tire drives before the lift. Brake 4 is the intial brake that doesn’t actually slow the train in the slightest, brake 5 is the one following it before the turn? Brake 6 would probably be the brake after that turn mentioned above.

Can we just take a second to appreciate how beautiful the ride is during the fall.
