Are there new versions of these car rides still being made? Seems like most of them have been around a while
Zamperla sells "U Drive" (which is a bus-bar model). And where is Zamperla from? ITALY.

I also think of Chance Rides' version, like Lake Compunce or Dollywood's version (which also include music while cruising around the track). Or maybe they have some in storage or bought from another park?

The ride site seems to be as large if not larger than what Le Mans took up before Griffon. It looks like they're using as much "flat" land as they could on that peninsula. I like how the bridge is located between the kiddie ride decks. The view walking back across the bridge to the formal gardens would be nice and centered on the fountain.

I wouldn't be surprised either if the two kiddie rides on the decks get moved to the old Cradle and Flying machine spots. The queue lines for Gliders and Balloons is right where the bridge is going. As much as BGW likes their special events, too, I wouldn't be surprised either if we see something like Pröst Patio over there on the decks. Seating areas for eating and maybe making a permanent food stall that's also used for Food and Wine Festival.

Mixed feelings. Not what I would have said the park needed, but I’m always down for good antique cars.

That being said, my excitement for this would depend pretty much on the presentation. It would need to be well landscaped and possibly well themed. It would also have to have an interesting layout.

I think it would be a popular addition regardless of the quality.

The way it looks in that RPA impacts buffer, a Lochness column for the turn after lift 2 goes right in the middle of the green stripe (assuming thats new ride track layout). To me, that suggests at least two parallel tracks (with that column going right between the two).

I LOVE this. I’ve been saying for years that BGW needs to add a slow-moving, non-thrill family ride after focusing on coaster after coaster. A successor to Le Mans is perfect and it fits the old country theme like a glove.

Plus, the plot of land — nestled in the grove between the trees cleared for the pipeline, off the beaten path of San Marco, meandering through a previously inaccessible area of the park, and even providing a brand new view of Nessie — just seems lovely. I can just picture this project in my head and it fits the park so perfectly.

Huge applause from me on this one. It shows the folks in charge are really (finally?) in touch with what the park needs.

One other thought that came to my mind for a low, winding, impervious pathway is a relocation/rebuilding of Roman Rapids to free up that cul-de-sac for further development/expansion outward. Waddaya think?

A San Marco Le Mans that's beautifully landscaped and themed would be the perfect new addition that not only will fill a void left behind many years ago, but it could also be an opportunity to help revitalize the Da Vinci's Garden of Inventions area as well. A big, huge clap for BGW and its upper management if this turns out to be true.

Definitely an interesting solution to the puzzle! Don't know if a large water trough at ground level like that would be permitted above the pipeline easement or not. My guess is would be no, but I guess it's not impossible? Hard to say. I'd be pretty surprised if they went that route, but 🤷‍♂️

Very clever thinking though! My mind hadn't gone there.

I will say this though: that detail @AIR noted re: Nessie having a support column in the middle of the theoretical ride path has really piqued my interest. I definitely see it in the plan too and, assuming we're reading all of this correctly and that support is stayin', I agree with @AIR that it almost confirms whatever this is is either dual tracked or, I guess, some sort of pathway or roadway where guests/vehicles can maneuver around it uninhibited. I can't imagine a single-tracked, tracked ride explanation that would retain that Nessie footer.

@Zachary briefly mentioned this in the article, but I hope there isn’t an attempt to tie this in to Da Vinci’s Garden of Inventions. Da Vinci’s Garden has a classical Italian theme that’s set in the Renaissance era, not the early 20th century with the advent of auto racing. I would prefer that they set apart the car ride thematically, using the bridge to transition the time period. It would be its own thematic sub-area like Pompeii, which is set in a completely different time period from the rest of San Marco.

It’s still a little bit of a stretch from the park’s original vision of each hamlet taking place in a different point in time, but in a park with sports cars and snowmobiles in 18th century Bavaria, ski lifts in provincial Germany, and Vikings in French Canada, it’s a satisfactory reconciliation IMO.
