Between this and Hollywood Drift at Orlando, the east coast is going to be eating good next year with launched spinning coasters.

One thing I’m surprised about is that the support structure isn’t nearly as thick as what was displayed in the survey:

Posted this a while back. Maybe some design clues, scaled up, for how the top of the tower may look based on Ride to Happiness, especially with the new rear support sections indicating the track and higher supports to-be-added will lean backwards away from the tower as the front now leans in toward the back with the latest supports added yesterday.

I know not project purple related entirely
But, I haven’t gotten to go to the park yet this year and it doesn’t seem I’ll get a chance any time soon. With that said, I have a few questions maybe some of you can answer.

How is the atmosphere in the park now?
How does shoreline pier look at night with the lights?
What’s the GP reaction to seeing project people and seeing shoreline pier?

It is very much night and day compared to last season. Last year, as much as I enjoyed many of my visits, it felt like a bit of a dead park walking that couldn't get much right. Ride removals, maintenance issues, outright cancellations of events and shows - there wasn't a lot of hope to go around even with the promise of a new coaster.

Now the park feels vibrant and alive. There's more energy everywhere and guests are very clearly happier. I've heard consistent praise for the additions, and they've done a great job of making people excited about the future with the Holiday In The Park and Project Purple teasers scattered throughout the property (including the highway entry sign).

When I spoke to Mike Fehnel on opening weekend, he said one of their goals for this season was for guests to see something new - construction progress, fresh paint, added signage, entertainment - every time they visit the park, no matter how often that may be. I visit quite frequently, and they've certainly been upholding that!

Amazing!

The GP has been very impressed with Shoreline Pier, especially with how little forewarning there was for its addition. The rides, atmosphere, and shows made it a hotbed of activity this weekend. They couldn't have done any better with it.

The GP perception of Project Purple is still very much that it is a Kingda Ka replacement. One of the more memorable quotes I heard was that "A coaster in the Middle East broke Kingda Ka's records, so they decided to tear it down to build another record breaker" (It took a good amount of self restraint to not be a dork and correct them lol)

I think that will remain the prevailing viewpoint among the GP, with "World record breaking" being somewhat misinterpreted, until the day when the announcement is finally made.

Poor atmosphere. Barely any rides running at capacity. Constant ride closures. Heavy emphasis on pushing through fast pass, leaving very short lines that take forever. They're trying, but it's not there yet.

Different from my experience on average this year so far. I think the atmosphere has been pretty good, and improved over last year which was improved over the year before. On a heavy school-trip day this spring it can get unpleasant at times between waits and rides going down briefly. But that's true any packed day any time of the year. Having two rides down for work all spring until recently and another open only partially for work will have a park-wide effect on the lineup and lines. With those all coming back online, it'll help everywhere. And Shoreline Pier opening, with two more rides about to open there, too, I think the rest of the year park experience should be pretty good.

Rides have been up and down at times due to maintenance and the early part of the season when staffing is low and they aren't running all trains on multi-train coasters. But Nitro and Jersey Devil have been running 3 trains all spring and turnover on those has been great. Medusa was running 2 until this past week as they send one away for a full refurbishment. El Toro usually runs 1 train until about now, and train #2 is almost ready after a full refurbishment like train #1 got in the off-season.

Superman was closed until around Memorial Day weekend because of the electrical work they were doing at the pier, so that's resolved. Batman needed a part, and that seems to be resolved and it will open soon. Runaway Mine Train being down half the week every week for the past month for the repainting is about to end, too.

There was a week or so around Memorial Day where there were a lot of rides up and down through the course of the day for one reason or another, but that's mostly stopped in the past week or so when I've visited. There were times when coasters went down temporarily because of people puking and the necessary cleanup. I saw that quite a few times this spring.

The park has also been having issues across all rides with restraint locking sensors that were apparently changed this off-season. But it's getting better.

Fast Lane is getting a lot of push. But it's been sporadic in my experience so far whether there are a bunch of people in that line that causes an extended wait among us poor folk in the regular line. Most of the time I've been in lines, the Fast Lane will get a bunch of people and it'll force a skipped ride for us in the regular line, then there won't be more than a handful in the Fast Lane line for a while and it really doesn't impact the queues much. That might change now that peak season is here. It really depends on where the crowds are moving in what part of the park at what time whether you get mobbed on one ride and it's a PITA to get a ride in.

It’s already been mentioned here but my only major complaints this season are Batman being nonexistent up until this point (hopefully opening soon???) and then Toro one train ops is pretty abysmal. It seems to be more popular now thanks to the retrack which is great but the one train in rotation can make waiting in even a short line such a slog.

Does it actually look large in person. I feel videos and photos don’t do it any justice.

Kingda Ka looked ginormous in videos and pictures so I’m wondering jsut how much visually in person is noticeable

We got ourselves a curve! Found this on Facebook

If the 315 foot height of the current structure is accurate, I’m curious based on the angle of the track here: do we think there’s enough leveling out of the drop to reach 350, with then another 25 feet of ascent from the wrap around? Or does it seem more like the track will level out around 350 ft overall and maybe the tower goes 25ft taller than the track itself. I’m thinking back to the “Top 5 Tallest” which if it actually is 5 would make it less than 367 feet.
