It has clearly "won" over thoosies with the astroturfing/influencer campaign and the coercive atmosphere that has been created with the forced positivity in thoosie circles. The "GP" in the comments on Facebook are as angry as ever.
This also happens when you have members of the "general public" who say "huh, they're building something new, what is it" and are told "you should hate it because it's slop".

The vast, vast majority of the general public barely thinks about Kingda Ka from day to day. If at all.

No, people are just highly suggestible and adjust to literally anything they're exposed to given enough time. As a Certified, Card Carrying, Day One SlopSpire Enjoyer & "Top Defender" (and known, documented ally of its despised, aborted, spiritual predecessor, Drachen Spire), I don't claim these new converts. Purple is actually worse than was rumored/understood at the start of this whole thing and now a bunch of thoosies who HATED this ride in its rumored form are deciding "wait, this actually looks sweet." Meanwhile, some of us have known it looks sweet from the jump and didn't allow anger and spite around Ka to cloud our judgement. We are not the same.

And if you want the best evidence possible for my case, I'm already seeing thoosies decide that Gargantuan Vertical Vengeance is a good name now, actually. It's not. Never has been. Never will be. Name hasn't changed—it's just highly malleable people with unexamined initial positions being moved by sheer exposure and nothing more.

The "GP" in the comments on Facebook are as angry as ever.

Those GP hold those same unexamined positions as many thoosies had previously but thus far lack the exposure to the coaster the thoosies have had. A year from now, you just wait, history will repeat itself.

To be fair, it’s Facebook. They would be angry no matter what was going on

represents consensus a hell of a lot better than niche groups

You think the coordinated, funded effort at promoting this ride among YouTubers has been less effective in swaying public opinion than my labeling the ride "slop?" I don't agree but it's a very flattering view of my influence

No, I just used you as a specific example. I'm sure there are others like that out there.

As far as the other enthusiasts out there, what do you expect them to do? Sit outside of Great Adventure and protest until the end of time?

Also, for the record. I think if it's called Gargantuan Vertical Vengeance, it's a pretty stupid name. But thinking it's a stupid name is about as far as I care to be bothered.

Corny names have been a thing for years, and will be a thing after.

No one with my passion. I'd be very surprised if there were another person who has conjured as much intention willing the death this project as I have

Be vocal about their discontent. If that moves somebody to protest I applaud their ambition

Slopholm syndrome :(

BREAKING: Amusement park markets largest roller coaster investment since 2005.

Would you rather Six Flags not market the ride, undersell tickets, be deemed a lost cause by corporate, and never get another massive investment?

As a fellow card carrying slop defender since day one, I'm actually pleased to see the marketing working and pulling people out of the haze of posthumous Ka worship that made them hate the frankly more exciting-looking ride. Like Zachary said, the GP will follow; and like I've said, this coaster will hold just as much importance for the next generation of enthusiasts as Ka did for our generation.

I don't like u. U insulted my lifestyle and mention how tall u r too frequently. That's definitely a jealousy thing on my part

That’s exactly what northdetective wants, considering for months they argued that this was all an elaborate attempt to tank the park’s value so that it could be sold and converted into a housing development.

I've missed out on Superman at SFNE, Black Mamba at Phantasialand (x2), Pantheon, DarKoaster, Big Bad Wolf, and technically can't ride Pantherian if they feel like checking, which they sometimes do. Also did I mention I can't ride Pantheon? Do not be jealous of me, this is my only place I can bitch about it (and by "it" I mean not being able to ride the best roller coaster at my favorite park [Pantheon])

Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that the chains are merged now, most of these arguments I used to see about Great Adventure over the years usually ended with "Go to Cedar Point instead". That or Magic Mountain if staying in the chain.

To be completely honest no matter what GAdv did it was in a lose lose because of how Ka’s closure went down.
Nothing will ever be Ka. So people will always have something to say. This ride will always be in Ka’s shadow to people.

As for people being unhappy or mad…. I’ve not seen much of that at all! I’ve seen the complete opposite. I’ve seen people saying this is going to be one of the most diabolical experiences ever.

The ONLY thing people are genuinely pissed off about is the idea of this being called Gargantuan Vertical Vengence.
Which makes me happy that everyone has joined together to be mad about a ride ruining name.

I cannot wait to see this thing cycle and see a completed boardwalk with whatever they’re adding in 2028.

My theory is rule of funny or Stockholm syndrome with the name. You can make a lot of arguments and sides and nuances regarding the actual ride and what it means for the park and its relationship to ka and the 9 yards, maybe it applies there maybe it doesnt, but Gargantuan Vertical Vengeance is just straight up a stupid name, its just that it can arguably almost loops around to being so bad its good (or at least endearing on some level). I like telling people "yeah theres a trademark for Gargantuan Vertical Vengeance, they are currently codenaming the ride as "pp" and have been teasing it with Its Rising #AdventureAwakens" (sometimes I add a bit about how phallic Ka already looked or the "I like it rough" el toro shirts) for the same reasons I like showing people Freaxxx by Brokencyde or High On My Own Supply by Wolfmother. Its's kinda just bizzare lol.
ps: if you have never listened to either of these uh...I'm so sorry/your welcome? ✌️

Press release sent out with the teaser confirms the 382 ft. height:

“Earlier this summer, the attraction reached its full height of 382 feet, becoming the tallest structure at Six Flags Great Adventure. While construction has reached several key milestones, the park has yet to reveal the attraction's official name, theme, ride experience, or opening date.”
i wonder if people are still freaking out over the FAA filing as apparently this questions the ride safety.

Going back to the name discussion, I really think GVV has to be a misdirect because the park is fully aware that the trademark leaked, and with how secretive they have been about the name that would just be confirming it before the official announcement. SC in my option stands for shipping company, so why would gargantuan vertical vengeance shipping company make any sense. My money’s on Global Vessel Ventures Shipping Company (or something similar) as part of the theme, and then the ride itself is a sea monster attacking a ship, destroying the cargo onboard.

It would be hilarious (at least to me) if the height discrepancy is because they plan on sticking this shipping container on top of it all as theming.

I would love that actually.

I do wonder if those Ka track pieces that are still there going to be used for theming for the ride, especially if they go with the sea monster theme

As far as this goes, I am still not against them really pushing the lore and straight up acknowledging Ka being gone with some kind of "The King was protecting us, now that he's gone, something terrible has risen".

For as angry as it makes some people, I fully believe in being corny and embracing the internal lore.

Really like the direction they’re leaning for the theme. Adequately spooky and a lot of room for a very cool queue and station. I’d love to see the initial launch track covered until the stall. Speeding into the light and immediately being flipped upside down while spinning would be insanely disorienting. The first chance you’d have to get your bearings would be at the top of the tower, where you’ll immediately be facing a 375 foot vertical free fall with a lap bar.
