Im gonna be honest at this point Project Purple should just be the name of the ride. It's made its way into the GP at this point as the name of this ride... and honestly it's got a nice ring to it.
No.

And I still don't even know where it came from - did one of the official posts or interviews call it this, or did some influencer coin the phrase?

Its cold asf up there past october. Better to open it at a time it can be open for more than a month just to reclose.

I don't think this is going to open in 2026 but weather being a factor would not make sense to me. Nitro reopened last season with a week or two left in November, and frankly, fall in New Jersey is lovely and fairly mild (barring any hurricanes)

He’s still out there on Reddit! He’s moved on to the Split Rex and BtR queue enhancements!

Wait is this SF mania? I used to support all of his headcanons before my permaban

As much as I’d rather it just have the proper grand opening it deserves in 2027, a preview month could also be INCREDIBLY useful to work out the kinks this ride may have. Mack has never gone this tall or fast before, a launch with riders inverted has never been done before, and realistically it just wouldn’t be a park’s flagship attraction without some hiccups early on.

I do find it interesting it went from being known as "project 2027" to "project purple" late 2026 opening perhaps? 🤔
No. Ryan explained it's just to differentiate it from all the other projects and the new "coaster" coming this year. They liked the name when so many people (us) said how much we loved the purple color of the track when it started showing up.

He estimates 105 mph by his calculations but also says he modeled the stall to be 70-85 feet (which we now know is off), also idk if NL2 has spinning trains but if it does he's not using them

ElToroRyan had the best footage of them I've seen. Nothing super close, but you could get a sense for the scale of the footer spread from his video today.
Thanks, I just saw it now! Such a massive tower or spike. I can't wait to see what it will look like. It's the most fascinating part to me.

Do we know for certain though? I feel like the height given by Coliwood was more of an educated guess than a certainty.

Expanding a little on the Project Purple moniker, I don't know how far in advance the decision was made, but Ryan wore a "Project Purple" shirt on opening day. He was present during an informal ACE meetup that afternoon, so the nomenclature spread pretty quickly.

With this being worked on almost every day and the park operating on its spring break schedule, we should get a healthy amount of updates during the coming week.

Just a guess, but “Project Purple” doesn’t sound organic and was probably a thing while Kingda Ka was still sending trains. From the YouTubers pretty much announcing the KK closure, to the YouTubers climbing around on track pieces in the parking lot, it seems almost like some weird viral campaign from the get-go? Not that it means anything- just the marketing guy doing his job with a little help from his friends. The product of a reduced budget and some creativity.

It doesn't take long to get a custom shirt. The project has had a few names the community has called it up to this point but purple has stuck the most. With how often Ryan and Colin are probably talking with all the trips to record progress, Ryan probably just liked the name and got a shirt printed to wear around the ACE members and superfans.

We don't have to get cynical about whether a project name is organic from a youtuber or created by SixFlags henchmen brewing up a viral fake name when the real one is going to be announced in only a few months.

I don't think it's entirely irrelevant to be considering the impact of this new protected class on either the project itself or the wider guest experience. It's pretty telling if the influencer crowd is getting to define any aspect of this project at all

Also Ryan's been using Project 2027 and Project Purple interchangably in podcasts/interviews, particularly over the last few months.

I'm sure it's in part that Project Purple flows much better than Project 2027, given the number of syllables and word phonetics.
