I have 3 kids, I’d go out of my way to take my family to Dollywood and pigeon forge for a week over a day or two at GADv. (Stinks to say that but it’s reality). We can’t compare GADv to Dollywood. They’re not on the same continent

I haven't been to Dollywood or SDC but I adore the localism in theming and the terrain integration of most of their rides. Unfortunately the pines are dead flat and there's not much to be done about it, but long term at Great Adventure I hope Joker gets removed and they really use the lakeshore to their advantage to give more of a distinct sense of place. Jersey Devil Coaster has my favorite theme of any ride there, so I hope they can lean more into local lore, which is always cheaper than IPs!!! and in my opinion much more enjoyable. Even though we know I don't love the spinner, I'm still hoping for the lighthouse concept for theming. It would be a great homage to the shore, and I think something that looks like the Tinicum Rear Range Light (pictured) would be a super recognizable structure for the park. This would cost a lot of money so I'm not expecting it, but I'm holding out hope "Phantom Spire" is a placeholder trademark

To this day I wish it had been put where the Great Lake Grandstand was rather than where Aqua Spectacle was, it absolutely would’ve fit there (albeit with some queue/maintenance shed rerouting). I’m sure they wanted it visible straight back from the entrance, but I think some cleanup of Switlik Lake and leaving it in open view past the fountain would’ve gone a long way.

Could you imagine how cool it would be if the coater is in fact lighthouse themed and they put a rotating beacon light on the top!! That would look sick at night!

How did you interpret "Fan Influenced Theme" here? Is it some third option for theming that is pending focus group feedback or are they alluding to customer involvement/influence in what will become the theme?

To me, it seemed like “should the board walk be the board walk, or DC, or should we ask the people?” (How they determine the people, idk?)

The other questions were things like “how important is theming to you”, “does an attraction being DC have impact” and there was like somewhat influenced, not influenced as options.

I would be soooo sad if this ride ends up being themed to a DC character and the rest of the boardwalk becomes DC themed. This ride deserve better, the boardwalk deserves better. Both need to be themed to something uniquely their own honestly. I think most of us can agree there is too much DC spread out all over the park. I love the DC characters, but they need to be placed tastefully and GAdv needs some help when it comes to doing things tastefully as of late.

I would love a revamp of the boardwalk as a boardwalk with fewer games and more ocean theming. I would also not be apposed to a pirate theme, a lost continent type theme or a knock off of Amity Island from Jaws.

If this ride is themed to a DC character and the boardwalk is moved toward a DC theme, I think it would be time to consider re-branding the park as an entire DC destination.

“Six Flags Great Adventure: Oops all DC” feels unintentional and forced, but if they leaned into it and made it Six Flags DC Universe and made the theming consistent across the park, with various different lands for different heroes, I could really see it paying off. Make Movietown Gotham, the boardwalk can be Metropolis.

Obviously I’d prefer original lands that honor the history of the park, but if they’re intent on leaning on the DC IP I wish they’d go all the way.

No new shipments since 1/10. Very curious to see if the guy who’s been doing drone updates will do one this upcoming week. Feels like the updates overall have come to a halt 😂

Well, Jan 13 was the last drone update showing the purple parts now on-site. About every 10-14 days we get a new look from above. Figure one is due by next weekend. Hopefully see some of these shipments laying about. 🤞 And opening day is in just 8 weeks (holy crap!).

Do we think the purple parts are track pieces? The supports we saw on the last day of operation were black/gray

Check the images back on page 98. Hard to say. I'd guess if the vertical support pieces we saw were dark grey that the purple could be track. I'd doubt the ride is more than two colors.
