I agree Joker would look much better both aesthetically and thematically over in Metropolis / movie town. Perhaps where the stunt show theatre is. But would the park spend the money to move it just for the sake of aesthetics and theming? No. Could I see a retheme in its current location? Absolutely.

Moving back to the new coaster... I am actually getting super pumped for this ride, even if it a Mack spinner. That turn swinging over into the Ka plot is going to be sick! Any thoughts on where the tower may be placed? Do we think it will be a straight shot after that 1st turn or could we see another slight bank over to where Ka's tower was?

It’s fine since it’s unique to all the other coasters in the park and doesn’t take up much space, but I wish they’d find somewhere else in the park to move it, like over by Batman. That land where it is now could be used for something better.
I can get behind this.

Move Joker by Batman, allow something new to be built where it used to be, and retheme Harley Quinn. Bingo.

For those keeping up with wplace (reddit's r/place except it's canvas is all of google maps) there's some fairly interesting/amusing things over where GAdv is located
WTF? I guess they really don't want the spinner. What's the deal with Marvin and why is he hanging out with the Joker and Harley. Is he becoming an evil third wheel to their relationship?

I think the spinner is going to end up being a case of most hated to one of the most praised rides ever if it gets built. I don’t think people realize just how good this ride will be if it’s actually 400ft. I think it could be comparable to Toro honestly

My only concern at this point is whether or not it’s really going to be that height, since no FAA waiver isn’t something to ignore

I swear it’s like some people think they can never build another coaster if they build a strata spinner.

It feels like more of an unwillingness to even consider the quality. Like I’ve said before, the community would be collectively shitting itself at the mere concept of the strata spinner if it wasn’t replacing Kingda Ka.

I think they’ll build something else really good in the future. It’ll either be where Rolling Thunder once stood, or where Medusa/the northern star arena is. Possibly both! I also don’t rule out Joker being removed and replaced with something bigger down the line.

Kingda Ka was a great ride and was super iconic for its records, but it was never a world beater. That’s why it’s dumb to think that they have to replace it with a Falcons Flight killer in order for it to be a good replacement.

I do think a lot of the hate comes from the way they went about closing the ride, which I can understand. But it’s kinda crazy that one of the most insane ride concepts we’ve ever seen is being disregarded because of Ka and the circumstances around its closure (and yes, I was one of the people contributing to this for awhile. Now I’m actually looking forward to this though assuming it’s the strata version)

It’s definitely a GP pleaser and should probably be kept around, but I’d rather they use the old Grandstand plot for a coaster and leave Joker’s plot as an open view of Switlik Lake.
talking about a missed opportunity of replacing fort independence with something like a garden area with a statue of Warner Leroy in the center while putting the coaster where time warp & Great Lake grandstand used to be

edit: I know, back to the guesses, so, about that wavier

I can’t imagine the arena is long for this world. As someone who advocates for the preservation of what remains of Warner LeRoy’s original vision, in its current dilapidated state it’s one of the ugliest fixtures in the park unfortunately. I believe I’ve referred to it as a year round Fright Fest decoration before.

Now that the dust has settled, while I don’t agree with it I can certainly understand it from a business perspective. The removal of the world’s tallest and fastest coaster was going to be incredibly controversial regardless of the manner in which it was done. Had they announced a closure date and shit hit the fan mechanically, that would’ve opened up a whole new bag of worms and they’d be stuck between pissing people off further with an “oops closed early” or pouring money into a ride being removed anyway. Assuming the rumors of Zumanjaro’s structural issues are true, it’s nothing short of a miracle that it even operated for the remainder of the regular 2024 season.

I digress though, I’m working on a thread detailing every removal throughout the chain in 2024 and I’ll save most of my Ka rant for that.

If it has like say Ride to Happiness level spinning at 100+ mph. Then Yes

You need another big ride with good capacity. This ride even with some sort if dual load station won’t have stellar capacity. It matches what Ka has had since it closed the second half of the station but by then popularity wasn’t nearly as high as it was when it opened. You need something like a B&M giga that will churn through riders but is also big enough to take crowds away from the spinner. Personally I think that’s when we see Medusa eventually close and it’ll be a bit until then

Contrary to my own beliefs about needing high capacity rides, its not true. I haven't had a problem with lines at great adventure since I was a kid. Back then, lines were several hours long.

I think the only long waits I’ve had at the park in the past decade were for Superman and Skyride, and maybe Joker during its opening week. I definitely got spoiled by consistently waiting less than 30 (usually less than 15) mins for rides like El Toro, Kingda Ka, and Nitro, because the 1.5 hour wait for a night ride on The Beast a few years ago felt like an eternity.

In New Jersey? It’s basically a guarantee, Ka had OTSRs, every inverting coaster in the park’s history has had OTSRs (save for the modified Chiller trains), and NJ is infamously strict on ride regulations, which is why it took most of Zumanjaro’s life for it to be able to run simultaneously with Ka.

Thats the answer I was expecting. Just another reason im not feeling this ride.

I feel like the OTSR thing is nonsense. The Chiller ran with lapbars for a time. Ka ran with OTSRs because intamin had straight up redid their restraint systems for Storm Runner (that's why rides like that and i305 had OTSRs) and it was entirely an intamin decision. Whenever any of these "laws" get brought up about how rides over 300ft need OTSRs/inverting rides need OTSRs, nobody can ever say the exact law that requires those things.
