"Mixed reviews" implies that some Extreme Spinners are liked and some are disliked—or that people disagree notably on the quality of the Extreme Spinners. In reality, the reviews are "mixed" between "incredible" and "one of the world's greatest coasters."

Captain Coaster has Time Traveler at #45 and Ride to Happiness at #6. Kingda Ka is sitting down at #93.

I'm not saying everyone has to be thrilled about the Shuttle Strata Spinner—they very much don't—but, objectively, per the data, Mack's Extreme Spinners are tremendously highly-rated coasters thus far.
That’s true but I think with this layout it is a bigger deal, there really is much less change of direction, which makes up for the fact that Time Traveler was intentionally designed to spin less, that layout on its own is great, the spinning is a bonus. But here the layout on its own is mediocre, you really need the spinning to make up for that.

this just feels like a snooze fest. not doubting its intense and cool, but Ka was an absolute beast. I personally think instead of trying to match height/layout, they should be replacing it with something that matches the intensity of KK. You can do that with a much shorter coaster if necessary, but you need something that's gonna put the fear of god in people.

Nah I’m sorry, you cannot in any universe replace the tallest and fastest roller coaster with family rides.
Well that could be second bomb they drop next year, that even if this new coaster is great it doesn't justify the closings based on space. Maybe there is no huge ride coming, the space is broken up. But aside from that, a normal sized hypercoaster could be suitably imposing from the parking lot.

Looking at rcdb, I was only able to find 3-5 launched hypercoasters (200-299') in the world. The LSM one is Beyond the Cloud at 205.1' and 80.5 MPH, also the longest at 3412' and with 5 inversions. Two air launchers are not listed as 200' tall but having 221.1' drops, currently SNBO. For hydraulics there is Stealth and Xcelerator at 205' and 80 and 82 MPH. The fastest lift hyper is Hyperion at 88.2 MPH from a 269' drop. BG claims Pantheon to be the fastest multi-launch at 73 MPH. A launched hyper with giga speeds and long enough to not be a one-trick pony, maybe a record setting inversion and taller than Nitro (230'), would be worthy replacement.

A strata spinner would be great if they could make it work, but I'm super skeptical and they have enough headaches, and a merely large spinner would probably be a better ride and still set some record.

Y'all are MASSIVELY overthinking this hobby if you wouldn't be excited for a 400 foot tall Mack extreme spinner. I think some people just wanna be mad and hate whatever replaces Ka. The truth is, Kingda Ka was just as gimmicky as this tower coaster would be.
I think the problem is it’s too similar to Ka, it’s similar to the point where you will immediately start comparing the two and if this thing isn’t better it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I'm just fed up over the last decade of investments, repeatedly it has felt like Great Adventure got the short end of the stick when compared to Great America and Magic Mountain. Especially if you look at ride replacements. Scream Machine was replaced by a hand-me-down from Kentucky Kingdom (which personally I hated) and the thing that killed me the most was Rolling Thunder getting taken down and we still haven't seen a permanent replacement. Not to mention we just also lost the Parachutes and Skyway as well. Now, you have the crown jewel of Great Adventure being taken down and you're telling me THIS is the replacement? A watered-down version of the ride that we just lost? I'm sorry but this is a subpar replacement and should this be the chosen ride I might just take my money elsewhere. This isn't just about Ka, it's about the past decade filled with iconic pieces of the park being removed with cheap and subpar replacements, it feels like I've done this over and over with this park already, I'm fed up.

While the lack of investment was quite evident at times, I was always willing to give the park/company the benefit of the doubt in the past (despite GAdv's relative profitability) because the Kingda Ka/Zumanjaro combination was so costly to run. I didn't always like it, but in a way I could somewhat understand it, and I was willing to accept it as a result of keeping the big guns operational.

Now that excuse has gone down the toilet. Some very worthy additions are needed.

I still think the whole problem is it IS replacing Kingda Ka, a ride caked in nostalgia and icon status. Honestly, though, while I thinkthis shuttle is gonna be as good a Ka replacement as anything could be, ngl it would be an EVEN BETTER replacement for Superman at SFMM, because you KNOW that thing is on the hit-list

To be honest, the more I see the potential 400+ foot Mack Rides Extreme Spinner Shuttle Coaster, the more I’m warming up to it.

Like - I’d take Mack Rides’ restraints over Kingda Ka’s over-the-shoulder ones any day. The view at the top of a 400-foot tower with those restraints could be amazing. Kingda Ka just flew over the top, but this coaster looks like it could let riders take in the view.

I feel the same way, people should give it a chance!
And I keep seeing people say “if it is the Mack spinner, I’ll NEVER go to Great Adventure again!”
Yes you will. Don’t deny It. Nobody ever follows through on those kinds of threats.

Not saying that I won’t go back, but it’s probably enough to make me finally buy a Hershey season pass instead. I just don’t see a world where it lives up to Ka.

Unless a strata spinner uses a vertical launch and brakes on the way down, it will have to be a beast too! Ain't getting up there by magic. The top does seem to give little break but isn't exactly relaxing. Of course if Zamperla can't even make a conventional train not shake itself to death at those speeds, chances are not good for a more complicated one. Even the Mack hyper with a spinner car has the advantage of non spinning cars to guide it. The dedicated spinners are smaller than Lantern.

You should be buying a Hershey season pass instead either way lmao
I've been debating it for years but it's a much longer drive and the price is much higher. I was going to do it this year but changed my mind after I went late last year (spent money on a Cedar Point trip instead of a Great Adv season pass so it was my only visit) and was impressed by the small quality improvements Selim had begun to make and though the park was finally improving. I don't know what I'm gonna do yet, depending on where I go for school next year I might even end up being a Kennywood season pass holder instead.

here my prediction, this one will be the same height as kingda ka was (maybe something like top thrill 2 but done by Intamin, maybe take some notes from falcon flight coming to saudi arabia)

it would takeover half of green lantern saving the other half for another coaster (b&m dive coaster?)

and maybe expand the golden kingdom to the ride side of the boardwalk area (retheming superman to something related to golden kingdom) and maybe replace the go karts & the simulator building with some ride (maybe a water dark ride)

I keep thinking back to the press release, and how it explicitly stated that all of the rides were being removed to make way for the coaster. At the very least, I don't see how they could make a comment like that only to have the new ride take up Ka's plot while leaving Lantern's plot empty. I don't believe it's a blanket statement like other people seem to think, because that's a massive detail that the average reader will NOT overlook.

That's why I'm having second thoughts about what is coming. Sure, there may be a decent chance it's the mack spinner, but I personally don't see us getting a layout like the one in the survey if the ride is truly going in both Ka and GLs plot of land.

A marker in the Ka station that showed up a couple days before it closed leads me to think they're reusing that station. According to the photos from the survey, the mack shuttle starts and ends at the station. If they were going to add that to GAdv and were to reuse Ka's station, GLs plot would be empty, and that would go against what was stated in the press release.

At this point I have no idea what's coming, but I'm going to keep my expectations low as to not be disappointed.
