I gotta say, I’m 1000% on board with what the park is doing now.

Keeping Ka in any form, even if they were to have given it the TT2 treatment, wouldn’t have helped the park. GAdv needs something completely new and unheard of to bring people back.

It seems like they’ve completely ripped out park of the boardwalk too which is a good sign. It needs renovation and this ride seems to be paving the way for that.

Thoosies are not the "community" most affected by the death of Kingda Ka imo. Frank from Englishtown is not a Coliwood subscriber

You are correct, but Frank from Englishtown doesn't care that...
- The track is a station track
- It has LSMs with active air cooling
- It has contacts for the train to interact with restraints
- It has pins and wheels at the end (for the sliding station)
- It says something that roughly translates to "Switch 1, Direction of Travel Right"

Frank from Englishtown is effectively communicated to regarding the track arrival news (something he really doesn't care THAT much about to begin with) if he follows SFGAdv on socials by posts like this...

Once again your astounding lack of reading comprehension derails a thread. Nowhere did he mention who was affected the most by this, the entire conversation was about how enthusiasts are the community who will most appreciate this gesture and the news, and considering they spend money at the park they’re good to keep in the park’s good graces

I agree for the most part
But I genuinely believe a world exits where KA 2 could co exist with The spinning spire

It’s sad we will beerget to see that

Oh well motion sickness here I come!

The purple track looks awesome and eager to see if it has a cool lighting package at night! I like that the park team has a good relationship with coaster enthusiasts bloggers as most parks probably don’t even acknowledge them lol!
we probably won’t get to see them till IAAPA but I think I’m most excited to see the trains. Both of the other extreme spinners have an awesome train design. Excited to see what they come up with here

In alternate world where the spinner came first, reached its demise and Ka was its replacement, people would say

“Ka doesn’t even spin”
“Ka doesn’t even go backwards”
“Ka doesn’t even have an upside down launch”

I feel bad for anyone letting park history taint their excitement for this ride. This will be huge and completely unique. And capacity will be fine with its dual loading stations.

I think the fact that the plans got out so quickly did the ride so much harm. So many people were caught up in the whiplash that was Ka's closure (myself included) and didn't give this ride a fair shot. I have a feeling there is always going to be a group that is stuck on "well it's no Kingda Ka" but I think once it opens the majority of park goers are going to really enjoy this ride. They did also hang onto a piece of Ka's track, I'm expecting there to be some sort of tribute to Ka in this ride's queue like Banshee has for Son of Beast or Rapterra has for Volcano the Blast Coaster.

Great Adventure thoosies gotta be some of the most entitled on the planet. Losing Ka sucks, but you're getting one of the most unique coasters ever built in return. Most fans of other parks would do anything to have something like this. Not to mention that it's the perfect spiritual successor to what they lost to begin with.

I honestly don't think it's the Great Adventure enthusiasts though....the majority of the people I talk to who call Great Adventure their home park have accepted that this is the new coaster and have some varying level of excitement. Most of the people I see complaining are those who go to Great Adventure once every year and have been passively paying attention to this ride's construction or have never even been to Great Adventure at all.

I'm a GAdv thoosie of over 30 years and a pass-holder, and I'm cautiously optimistic about this coaster. The only thing tempering outright excitement is the spinner aspect, but only because I have an inner ear problem. Just, will I be able to fully enjoy it on it's own terms? So that's just me, not any dislike of the coaster itself. The context, and the last 15 years in the park, are what put a lot of us in a mood. From the outside, we may seem haughty. But we've been through a park that was once truly great into one neglected and suffered major losses all at once within the last few seasons with no clearly articulated plan for the future, until recently. So it's just been hard to know whether things are going in the right direction, or, as some argue, it's just another band-aid circling the bowl. I believe the former is what's finally coming to fruition, and I'm excited for the first time in a long time. And a new coaster that'll be gigantic is a great way to start the ball rolling. 😎
