Plot twist the 2027 water ride turns out to be the relocation of Shipwreck Falls.

Another teaser on instagram. Is anyone else curious what the announcement timeline is gonna be here, because this seems like a lot of teasing for it only being March. They’ve been posting teasers about every week or so, and I feel like doing that all the way until August is bit of an odd move, especially if they’re all gonna be this vague. I’m wondering if they’re planning a spring announcement like Great Adventure & Fiesta Texas seem to be for their 2027 rides.
I sorta assume they're just trying to beat obvious construction. Especially for a ride that was delayed a year, its likely this thing will go up pretty early in the season. It always feels a bit silly to announce a ride that has already been basically fully-built on-site so maybe that's the rational?
I do wonder what this will mean for pass sale season though. Normally cap-ex announcements are linked directly with next-year pass sales. Could they start those up early too? Are they going to try to decouple these advertising pushes? Will definitely be interesting to watch from a PR strategy standpoint.
I doubt they'll try selling '27 passes this early.
Perhaps having the 2027 project announced in time for Summer visitors who aren't tapped into Carowinds announcements / social media will have a reason to come back the next year. Typically they would announce towards the end of Summer.

It's at the south point of the site, about where the curve leading to the final lift will be.

They've been moving a lot of the rock they cleared during grading / demolition of RRR back to the construction site. Plans show them using this rock throughout the ride area for landscaping.

Big fan of the "water ride traversing far from the beaten path while also being in the shadow of a B&M hyper/giga" dynamic we have with Roman Rapids and now this. I'm sure this will be a fun ride but the views are going to be awesome. I wish I rode the previous ride here when I went in 2014.

I wonder how much spray is going to head toward the Palladium? I hope getting rid of that 50-year-old paper weight is in the 5 year plan. That would open up a nice piece of real estate.
I've been hoping since 2014 that they demolish that damn thing. My dream would be utilizing that plot for further investment into becoming a resort. The front gate area could use some life, and a Knott's-style entrance village with a full service restaurant + retail opportunities would be incredible.
That being said, the park has two other massive empty expansion spots to work with, so I doubt they'll touch their covered storage structure until something bigger is planned.
It just seems fitting that I went from one home park with an abandoned concert venue to another.
Judging by how Great Adventure has handled (or, really, not handled) the Great Arena, and for that matter their covered storage in the former Right Stuff building, I have a feeling we’ll be looking at this eyesore for a long time. Granted, Great Adventure has FAR more room to work with and their abandoned venue is tucked in a corner rather than being right up front, so who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky.

The shows there used to be huge with the biggest names and it was an asset to the place. That was a long time ago and a very different concert industry. It's a relic taking up space, no tears when it is gone.

They could realistically revitalize it and provide a competitor, but they'd likely have to go through Ticketmaster or AXS monopoly. It requires tons of investment to modernize the Paladium to current standards. The infrastructure all the way down to the signage has not been updated in decades.
Just don't see it happening, unfortunately. Would love to be wrong! I imagine the 2024 Summer concert series with some moderate sized bands was a test to see if it's feasible to keep it. If it failed, I reckon as soon as that building has any structural issues it's coming down.
