Additionally, what exact "time period" is this ride happening in? Isn't the rider is "driving" through an enchanted forest? Is that not a modern setting to begin with where a 5 star rating has been a standard business review system as others have stated? Also, the Uber association doesn't make sense to begin with, she didn't drive, she does have a business "magical motor tours" that could benefit from a rating.

The 5 star thing is silly, and in my mind should point to the forest experience and her directions sarcastically. Its easy to associate it with Rideshare, but overall, its silly whimsy that I won't remember much.

The 5 Star joke should be waiting audio on the final brake run to fill time when a train is parked or unload audio in the station. Even if you think it's funny, timeless, fits, and belongs, I just think it's awful at what is supposed to be the emotional climax of the scary forest. Everything @Mushroom said before was spot-on in my opinion—making Verbolten's drop track a means of being saved vs a problem riders need to escape from is the core issue. I think it lessens the tension of the drop track significantly and, story wise, it makes the rest of the layout make zero sense.

I forgot about the whole story thing really when I rode it and thought the drop track was cool as hell for what it was. I guess it's one of those things the more you think about how dumb and illogical it is, the worse it is vs liking it for face value. Like modern star wars

The “Nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans” thing also applies to enthusiasts, but I also think it’s a bit of a cop out for criticism in both instances. I think Star Wars fans and coaster enthusiasts are more likely to heavily scrutinize and notice things that casual enjoyers don’t. Sometimes that’s valid (AI logos), sometimes it’s more nitpicky but still valid (this conversation), and sometimes it’s idiotic (almost all of the Project Purple discourse).

I think enthusiasts can be needlessly bitchy about things that do not matter, much like Star Wars fans, but this isn’t that egregious of a nitpick even if I disagree it’s a problem.

I give more or less leeway depending on the theming level of the park at large. If this were Disney or Universal, I’d want a more coherent story. If it were Six Flags, I’d be so over the moon at the effort that I wouldn’t care. Since it’s BGW, I’m kind of in the middle. It’s a great effort but they have the capacity for a more coherent story.

suddenly drenchen spire doesn’t sound so bad.

Emotional climax of a story on a roller coaster

😳😬

Got to ride this yesterday and with the exception of the tree, I felt underwhelmed with the retheme. I didn't even notice the car in the building. Don't turn right is WAY over said. The broom scene needs to be more interactive more often. Better than what is was but feels like some missed opportunity.

The arrow did change directions, but being in the front row, it was occurring as we were passing.

So having visited this past weekend and belatedly gotten my rides in after the delayed media event, my quick thoughts were:
-I love the queue additions and the added Black Forest sign
-Inside the building, I definitely noticed the Beetle. Otherwise it largely felt the same as I remember from my rides in 2022 until the drop track.
-Some of the lighting effects on the trees at the drop track were already broken on my rides.

I came away thinking that, while this is an undoubtedly an upgrade, I'm having trouble justifying doing a whole separate review on it. There didn't feel like there was enough "new" about it to someone like me who isn't a regular, local visitor who is scrutinizing every tiny detail.

The people have spoken, and the park answered!!!

I just rode with a COMPLETELY different drop track audio sequence, and I’m thrilled! There’s a possibility they’re on a rotation, but I’ve only gotten one ride in so far today. I’ll try again later and see if it changes.

If anyone else rides this week, please report back!

There’s still plenty that needs to be ironed out, but my biggest complaint is officially gone. Hell yeah, BGW!
