It costs a decent amount to paint a coaster as big as I-305 I'd imagine, but unless they planned to give it the Nessie Reborn treatment with on-ride effects and props, I don't see how adding some thematic decorations and few signs to convey some kind of storyline similar to TT would be all that much more (still expensive in general, but I can't see it taking a significant portion of their investment).

However, BLSC though much shorter would be a different beast - paint, car designs, and on-ride props including the fireball effects would all have to be swapped out. The rocky ride area doesn't really fit into a jungle, so something would have to be done to either explain why the departure from a supposed forest or try to get more plants in there.

I kinda see BLSC rethemed maybe in a few years. I'm sure if they had the budget, it'd be done already, but with a major new coaster, and likely a forced re-theme of 305 otw, it could have been pushed to back burner status.

As for what they do with it... I COULD see it actually being the serpent temple, with the first element being some sort of tree climbing snake, with dashing through some fake trees being the next element, stopping for a stand off with some other creature, maybe a mongoose, or perhaps another snake, with the second launch going into "dense jungle foliage" for the dark part, bursting out into a small waterfall...

But, I have no idea what's actually going to happen there, maybe they'll just keep BLSC as it is until they decide it's replacement time. only another 10-15 years, maybe?

To be fair, Backlot is pretty popular and I think it's a valuable stepping stone coaster in the park's lineup. If it saw a significant thematic investment, I think it could quickly become one of the more unique, more beloved coasters in the park honestly. It has good bones. The theme is just god-awful.

Absolutely not, this is a perfect family coaster for the park, and a good stepping stone for riders who aren't ready for the big coasters yet.

As funny as it sounds, I'm pretty sure BLSC is my sister's favorite coaster in the park (she really loves family coasters for some reason lol), I think she would riot if they removed it for no reason.

I understand it fills a void in the line up. From a business standpoint, I just wonder if it's worth investing millions (or however much it is) to completely re-theme a 20 year old attraction or just replace it with a newer family coaster that fits the area better. Also from a marketing perspective which approach is going to get the best return on the investment... an old attraction or something new.

KD isn't getting ANY new coasters any time soon - Tumbili->Rapterra will be it on that front for a long time. The new Six Flags will have a lot morroe pressing priorities to fill in the near term. Removing a ride that occupies a unique role in the park with no issues would be a terrible business decision. Furthermore I can't imagine a ride of its size would be all that difficult or expensive to retheme, if they chose to go that route. The Helicopter room would be the only real investment, and there are dozens of low-cost options they'd have to do so - the simplest of which is pretty much an escape from the government alien complex the whey foundation stumbled into for FOF. Tie those two rides together with minimal signage, add some fake foliage, and reskin the cars and boom, cheap retheme.

This. All of my nephews (who still seem a little bit scared of big roller coasters) love Backlot. They’re used to wooden coasters, but they all said: “This ride is so smooth.” I told them: “Wait until you get to the big/premium coasters.”

Rides like Backlot can create a new generation of roller coaster fans. For me, it’s perfect for that. Just give it a better theme.

yeah, retheme backlot to a jungle themed coaster

and keep flight of fear the way it is but retheme the facade to explorers space station

If I had to guess, here's KD's list of investment prioirities over the next decade. I'm not predicting the order in which these will be installed, just ranking importance (with the assumption that P-305 is getting rethemed for 2025):
  1. Soak City Expansion: this hugely popular area needs an upgrade, most likely in the form of a new ride (water coaster???🤞🤞)
  2. Old Virginia Expansion: this side of the park needs some love, i.e. Grand Prix Raceway replacement, a sensible Grizzly entrance, a new attraction inside/replacing the Action Theater
  3. BLSC upgrade
  4. Front entrance upgrade (think Carowinds/Cedar Point)
  5. Parking lot upgrade: I don't think we'll ever see this replaced all at once (not a good ROI), but certainly the areas around the toll booths/roads through the lot deserve a major overhaul
  6. ...unfortunately, I don't think Anaconda is making it 10 years.
I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt there will be anything Rapterra-caliber for at least 10 years; however, the above investments are necessary. Throw in a Planet Snoopy ride and a DC retheme or two (Dominator and Berserker become Batman and Joker-themed 😅), and I think those are fair expectations on what we'll see by 2034.

If legacy CF parks aren't using the Six Flags name, they won't have DC themed attractions. I think all Six Flags parks will move away from that in the coming years. SFGAm's new dive is very Cedar Fair coded if that makes sense.

In terms of Jungle X, if we see a BSC retheme I bet it'll be in 2027

or maybe legacy cf parks can instead use hanna barbara characters if dc & looney tunes are not a option, I mean, they were mascots of the park since opening in 1975 (1974 if you count scooby doo coaster, theater & lion country safari opening) up until they were replaced by nickelodeon and then the peanuts gang

Hannah Barbera is owned by WB which owns DC 👀

In all seriousness though, as much as this would be cool, I don’t know that HB themes would work in this age. Not sure how many kids know those characters at this point. My 8 year old has no idea who Yogi, The Flinstones, The Jetsons, etc are and honestly the same goes for the Looney Toons. I think the Peanuts are more relevant to kids as those characters are still being used in current shows and kids see them at every holiday. Short of getting the rights to a newer children’s series, I think they have the best solution currently.

If they got Bluey, I’d be stuck spending a fortune in the park 😂

or maybe the microsoft gaming franchises like Minecraft or maybe invincible, I rather have invincible over batman (no offense, I love batman but I come up with better ideas)
