Now this might be a bit of a strange idea, but hear me out. I had the idea of adding lore to the unthemed rides to make them fit in more. The idea had Backlot turn into a sort of game show/race in the jungle, Anaconda, the chicken shack, and the little carnival game over there turned into a tourist attraction along with a new gift shop, FOF keeping the alien theme but turning the ride itself into a “space catapult”, and the building looking like it was abandoned for years, and for I305, I don’t really know. And to cap it all off, a killer launch coaster using Volcano’s former plot and some of the space behind FOF’s building, and maybe a new flat or two. What do you think?

2024 passes are on sale on the website......historically with no announcement once that happens, it's all but a confirmation no new ride hardware in 2024. I mean I'm not ruling out like a shadow drop of a WindstarZ or something but yeah another down year it looks like for KD.

Didn’t Kings Island announce the Adventure Port much much later than the other parks last year?

^This is why I said I wasn't ruling out a subtle flat announcement later. I just don't think it's likely as of now.

Side note: I really wish Cedar Fair would invest a little more into KD. I get there's the rest of the chain and shareholders need their dividends but I mean come on something, a unique flat, a bar, new entrance, anything at all? What happened to the Zamperla flat buying spree? Is it just Dragster absorbing all the money for the year? Stagnation just kills me honestly on a park and I go to KD so much that "nothing" kind of starts to hurt at a point.

Rather them go all in and not cheap out on the 2025 (hopefully) Volcano replacement, but was hopeful to see more retheming in Jungle X and a relatively inexpensive flat.

A simple flat ride like the new Sol Spin at Kings Island would be a great way to kick off the 50th Anniversary celebration. Put it in Candy Apple Grove and name it Apple Turnover like the old enterprise that operated at the park from 1976-1993.

KI's 2023 season announcement was made around October 19th 2022. That's about 7-9 weeks after Cedar Fair started the 2023 announcements for the chain.

As others have stated, I could see more of the Jungle-X area expanded for next year. Maybe with a major re-theme of BLSC to tie it into the jungle-x theme.

As far as a new ride/attraction goes. Well, it is not a coaster, and not a full flat ride package either (5-6 rides). There might be a possibility for 1 or 2 flat rides to be added. I am thinking the rides would be in the small to medium size range. As stated above, something like KI's Sol Spin would be great. If there was a 2nd flat coming in I could see a used/refurbed flat being added.

Except that Hangtime and Monster, as I’ve mentioned multiple occasions in the past but to no response, didn’t take as long to construct as most other coasters. The building of Hangtime started far later if I recall and the rides they both replaced were removed the same year construction started.

if they were announcing a new roller coaster it 100% would have been announced with the season pass sale based on precedent.

Yeah my general expectation is maybe a WindStarZ or Endeavor pops up, maybe a 25% chance at this point gradually decreasing until Spring. Maybe they drop the backlot retheme on a blog post? Certainly could see some sort of restaurant change.

Don’t forget, 2024 is the first year of the 50th celebration if they’re doing something similar like the 40th. Rethemes could still happen by chance.

So far we have Cedar Point, Dorney Park, Kings Island, and Canada's Wonderland 2024 Cedar Fair announcements. Am I missing anyone? It seems like 2024 season passes went on sale at all Cedar Fair parks today.

Knotts is not announced, and that has been rumored to be a coaster/flat package

The Cedar Fair parks that have NOT, at this point, announced anything for 2024 are the following:
Carowinds *
Kings Dominion
Knotts Berry Farm
WOF *
Valley Fair
Michigan's Adventure

* Both Carowinds & Worlds of Fun received major attractions for 2023. I'm guessing 2024 will be an off year for them with general park improvements. Maybe a chance for a flat ride or water park slide in 2024?

I’d just note for all on expectations, at this point those parks that have not announced anything, if anything is announced at this point for them I’d respond Palpatine style: “A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.”

As far as I’m concerned I’m writing off 2024 for all of those parks at this stage for any significant capex investment beyond park improvements. The dopamine hit from a major announcement most likely isn’t coming now for them, so go watch Iron Menace animation again or look to Six Flags and SeaWorld for the dopamine….I mean announcements of new attractions for 2024.

Last year was a deviation from the norm but from a marketing standpoint it really doesn’t make sense to put next years passes on their biggest sale of the year and announce nothing. KD even posted a “10 reasons to own a 2024 pass” blog and none of the 10 reasons suggested anything about new stuff.

I sorta disagree @CoasterAuditor.

We have really good reason to believe that Knott's does have a 2024 project and they haven't announced. It also isn't at all uncommon for smaller projects (like rethemes, restaurant renovations, ride upgrades, etc.) to be announced well after pass sales start in blog posts or the like.

I don't expect ride hardware for KD in 2024 (though, I do think there is unannounced ride hardware coming to Knott's still). That said, I'd be a little surprised if Kings Dominion doesn't do anything for 2024.

I’m more or less just trying to help with expectations. I’ve been disappointed hard by this hobby with announcements way too many times now and I’m just basing it off historical precedent with Cedar Fair and their announcement track record. Typically once the pass sale was announced and other major ride announcements are made that’s essentially it for ride hardware announcements.

I forgot about Knotts though I mean their situation with Zummy and everything is weird right now plus the construction I just don’t give the west coast parks detailed attention I do the VA parks.

I’ve been disappointed with this park’s ride investments (or lack ther of, more appropriately) since Cedar Fair bought it, no reason to assume that’s going to change any time soon.
